Dash started cracking about 2007 and is not starting to fall apart in big sharp pieces. If air bag would ever go off I don't know where these pieces would end up, hopefully not in me.
Dash board broken and falling apart. Parts falling in are very sharp and dangerous. It is like someone holding a knife in front of you when driving down the road, hoping you don't hit anything.
The dashboard started cracking around 60,000 miles. It has continued to crack and all of the plastic vent covers have fallen apart into the vents. I have now found out that the insulation in the dash is dry rotting and falling into the A/C vents and causing problems with the A/C motor. This could potentially cause an electrical problem.
The dash was fine no events until Sept.2008. Opened the truck up one day to reveal a huge crack in the dash. The dash is cracking in the rate of 2 cracks in 2008 and one in 2009, one in 2010. We are up to 4 cracks now. Hasn't been fixed. I am hearing horror stories of this causing serious problems. I do not let my kids ride in it.the more it cracks the less safe we feel driving it.
I bought a 2002 Dodge 3500 brand new in 2002. 4 months later the dash cracked. I brought the truck to the dealer ship several times with my warranty and they refused to fix this issue. Since then to now we have continued to contact Chrysler Corp. And the dealership with this issue to just be put off time and time again. You pay 33,000 for a truck within 4 months the dash cracks and Dodge tells you its cosmetic your bumper to bumper warranty will not cover it. I feel it is a safety issue because pieces of the dash can come loose and the dash itself is loose.

Dashboard on my Aug 2002 built Dodge Ram 3500 has extensive cracks. Internet sites show a number of other Dodge vehicles with this same issue - some much worse than mine. Potential safety risks include distracting driver due to dash cracking. Other owners with more severe cracks have reported electrical system failures due to dashboard cracks and dashboard falling inward.
After owning this vehicle for 6 years< the paint is starting to peel, and it is rusting from the inside out. Although this is not a safety issue I am hoping you can point in the right direction. Thank you.
I own a 2002 Dodge 3500 1 ton dually and my dash has started to crack. I called my local Dodge dealer in claremore Oklahoma ( melton Dodge ) and they gave me a number to contact the manf. With which is 1-800-992-1997. I called them and they told me my dash would have to be inspected by a Dodge dealer to verify that the crack was not caused by me and then led me to believe that they would make good on it. I took my truck to melton Dodge in claremore Oklahoma and they did their inspection and found out the defect had nothing to do with me and it was in fact a Dodge defect. I called the manuf. And they told me that since it was not hindering the airbag and I had a 140,000 miles on it they refused to do anything about it. This would not bother me so much except for the fact that they have replaced other customers dashboards with more miles than mine and older ranging from free to the customer paying part of the bill. I work with a gentlemen that has a Dodge that is older with about the same miles as mine and they replaced his for free. I have owned my last Dodge truck they have an inferior product that they wont stand behind. If not for the cummins engine I would have already traded my truck in for a Chevy or a Ford Super Duty. You don't see there dashboards cracking or caving in. I pull a trailer alot and I have several friends that have Dodge the same year as mine or in that body range and all of their dashboards are cracked as well. This is very upsetting.
Consumer is complaining about cracks in the dashboard. Customer states that vehicle has about 10 cracks in the dashboard. The customer would like to know why Dodge is not doing anything about this problem.
The board 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab dashboard is all cracked and breaking apart. Read about this problem in my local action line section where other Dodge owners of different models between the years 2000 and newer were having the same problem. The dashboard started cracking near the vents and has proceeded to break in other places along the entire dashboard, about less than a month after the warranty expired. I' have asked around to people related in the industry, and have been informed that was a very costly repair. Several hundred dollars worth. Also, I have a friend who experienced the same problem on a 2000 Dodge 1500. Please help, thank you.
The clock spring was replaced 3 times, there was a problem with the door locks, speakers, and body scratches. Also no keyless entry as promised when the vehicle was purchased. Also the passenger door regulator was replaced, the roof seam leaked water
