Vehicle was in the park gear with the engine running when it popped out of the park into drive by itself. When this occurred vehicle went through two streets and a ditch before stopping when it collided with a tree. This failure occurred because the gear shift lever didn't lock in the park position.
Consumer stated that the transfer case cracked and fluid seeped out. Consumer is wondering if the same heat from exhaust might cause some kind of breakdown.

While driving the gear shift bolt broke off and flew into the motor, causing the vehicle not to go into gear. Is currently now unable to move. Dealer has been contacted.
