My dashboard started making cracking noises couple years after I bought it new in 1999. After awhile I started seeing small straight line cracks in the dash. As time passed the cracks grew larger and in every direction. Now it is beginning to come apart all the way across the dash. Soon there will be no dashboard left. And that my friend is just one of my complaints.
Dodge should be replacing these cracked dashes for free or at low cost. This is a widespead problem, due to inferior materials used in the first place!
I DON'T KNOW WHY DODGE WONT RECALL THESE DASHES. IT REALLY IS A MATERIAL ISSUE, (VERY POOR QUALITY) IT CAN AFFECT THE AIR BAG - THAT'S A SAFETY ISSUE ALL THE WAY. WE HAVE REALLY ENJOYED ARE TRUCK BUT THE DASH LOOKS LIKE HELL AND IT IS A JOB TO REPLACE IT. GETTING READY TO DO THE A/C SO LOOKS LIKE A GOOD TIME TO FIX IT.
This truck is mechanically sound, looks good from the outside, but once you get in, there is a massive hole, actually more than one, in the middle of the dash board, with cracks all through it. I bought this truck new, and have taken good care of it, but it loos like a piece of junk, with half the dash missing.
Bought this truck from a buddy and he ORDERED this heavy duty truck new and paid cash. Within months the dash began cracking. He got a pricey cloth cover to make it appear better but it is just shredded. It interferes with instrumentation and if that airbag deploys we can expect shards of plastic to be shot to kingdom come as well. Dealer and manufacturer are not interested in helping. There are so many people who had this problem THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
