Normal driving, no rain, daylight hours. Outside temp. Was approx. 85 deg F. when attempting to activate left turn signal for a lane change, the signal would not activate, when I attempted to activate it again, the right signal activated. During the duration of my trip I was able to replicate this problem numerous times, affecting both sides. I was able to duplicate this issue with the vehicle both at rest and stationary, with the engine running. I have not fixed this issue at this time, but plan to replace the multifunction switch.

Ram 2500 Power Wagon 6-cyl Diesel

  • 25,000 miles
2006 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins diesel-failed left turn signal/brake light on factory installed trailer plug. My parents purchased this truck new in 2007 that happened to have the trailer package included. I recently tried to hook up a trailer to my parents truck. I noticed the left turn signal and stop light on the trailer did not work. I went through the trailer and found all wiring to function correctly. I tested the factory installed trailer plug on the truck bumper and found the metal pin that sends the signal to the left signal/brake light of the trailer non-functioning. I tested the wire under the truck and found the same wire that attaches to the trailer plug had no electrical current. I checked the fuse box and all fuses were functioning. I checked the internet and found many people with the same complaint. The common cause for the problem listed was the fuse box(aka tipm). There isn't a separate fuse for the trailer signal for a issues like a short. The whole circuit for the left light is closed by the software. Instead of just replacing a fuse the whole fuse box needs to be replaced. The average cost is $1,000 to fix. I called the dealer and he said the usual service line, "just bring it in and for $99 we'll diagnose it for you. I called the Dodge customer service line and they said they would get back to me and it's been 3 days. I emailed Dodge customer service and they said the same as the dealer did. I replied asking if Dodge was going to help pay for the problem. I also asked if there was someone else of higher authority to communicate with. They replied okay and that it's been passed on. This is a big safety hazard for my family and the public. If I can't see a driver behind me or them can't see me and an accident occurs, who's going to pay for it and can you really put a price of the safety of your loved ones? updated IVOQ 12/01/10

I was changing lanes on the interstate in minneapolis mn in heavy traffic and when I activated the left turn signal, the right turn signal flashed. I did catch it and didn't switch lanes. Obviously a safety concern. The problem has been coming and going for two days now and I plan to bring it to a dealer this weekend. When this does happen I can activate the four way flashers and the left turn signal does work. I don't know what the problem is but hopefully there is a fix for it.

Multifunction switch in Dodge Ram 2500 defective. Blinkers when activated blink for the wrong direction, or not at all. Sometimes when they do activate they wont turn off. Hazard lights are also affected. Could cause an accident because from in the cab the blinker will show left turn but the right turn blinker will be blinking and vice versa. Or blinkers may show to be activated but are actually not. Wipers may start or stop with no warning. The blinker issue will cause an accident eventually, it probably already has. Wiper function is intermittent or no at all, problem occurs without any sort of warning.

I own a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 mega cab. Just last week my blinkers started going crazy. I will signal the left blinker and it will signal right and visa versa. This problem happens daily and happens so frequent that I am afraid to drive my truck anywhere. I have not replaced the switch yet. In doing research, it says you must pull the steering wheel to fix the problem. I just thought a wire might be grounding out. I then started to do some research and many many other people are having this issue on their trucks of the same year. I do hope you consider this a recall as it to be a very intense safety issue and I do believe Dodge should fix the problem. Doing research on the problem it does cost a significant amount. If I have to fix a safety issue that is ongoing with a vehicle and Dodge knows about it, it is time for the government to step in and make this corporation fix the safety problem. If they know about the problem and don't fix it, I am sure a lawyer could be contacted to let everyone know about the problem including the ones who won't fix it.

2006 Dodge Ram 2500 laramie. Turn signals operate sporadically. Moving the turn signal stalk to signal a left turn can result in no flashing of the left turn signal but improper flashing of the right turn signal. Likewise the same opposite improper operation occurs when moving the turn signal stalk to signal a right turn. The incorrect flashing signal appears at both the dashboard indicator light and at the exterior front and rear turn signal lighting positions.

2006 Dodge Ram 2500 windshield wipers stopped working in a rain storm on the freeway. Took to dealer and they replaced the tipm. 1 week later my horn didn't work Dodge said it was a faulty tipm. I fear the tipm has failed again since I am having power issues with my lights and radio again.

Tipm issue when left turn signal is activated no response to wiring harness. Which also would not activate trailer brake light due to no input from left signal. I think this is a problem when other drivers can't see brake lights all due to a bad tipm. Was told the dealer will replace for $700. My opinion with so many 06 Dodge 3500 with same problem this should be recalled. Talked to other owners who have been to dealer and there is a wait for back order due to many others having same problem.

This is an on going issue with my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. When driving at night sometimes when you switch the headlight from low beam to high beam they will completely go out or one side will go out. Also sometimes when you turn on your left blinker your right blinker will come on. The dealer told me that this was from hauling trailers with bad wiring. I don't understand how a trailer that is not connected to my truck can effect the lights. My truck is no longer under warranty and there is no way for me to diagnose this problem. (you must have a Chrysler computer to see what the controller is doing) I thought there were laws to protect consumers from manufacturers of cars that prevented them from making control systems that consumers could not access.

The turn signal (multi-function) switch in my 2006 Dodge 2500 is malfunctioning. When I turn on my left turn signal the right turn signal will flash and sometimes the left as well. The same thing happens when I put on my right turn signal, the left turn signal will flash. I have had two very close calls with this, the most recent while pulling a 34 foot fifth wheel trailer. I have seen numerous complaints about this on the diesel truck resource web page and some of the stories are of very serious close calls. This needs to be a recall.

2006 Dodge Ram 2500. Multifunction switch fails when needed the most. This item controls the wipers, turn signals, high/low beams, as well as emergency flashers. This was an intermittent problem when I first reported it to the dealership, and surprise surprise it didn't fail at the dealership. Now after my standard warranty has expired it has completely failed. There was no events leading up to the failure. The dealerships are now saying that this is a common issue, but since the warranty has expired, I now have to pay for parts as well as labor for an item that causes a major safety issue. Imagine driving in a down poor, and the switch that controls your wipers fails to perform.
