Driving along in sub 20 degree weather and the heater won't come on is a crappy situation. Fortunately, it was dry enough the windshield wasn't fogging up or I couldn't have kept going at all. Crappy part is there is a TSB resolving this issue for 2009 and 2010 trucks. The 2011 trucks you would think have this resolved from the factory or be included in the same stupid recall, but alas no. Not the case.
I took my truck to the dealership who you would think could diagnose the everloving thing, but no. Not so much. I had to come home and search the internet and find the TSB myself for the previous year because those genius can only look up TSBs by vin number rather than the shitting problem. Since my POS didn't make the affected list, it doesn't come up.
They blamed my aftermarket stereo blocking the bus signal, so I spent an hour pulling that and putting in the factory unit. Surprise surprise it didn't fix it. I've now wasted a day running to the dealership and a night working on the stereo and have to take it back to the worthless idgets to try to explain to them their system is jacked up while trying to be calm after wasting all this time. It's the damn winter time and I don't feel like I can haul my wife and kids around without fear of freezing them. It's absurd.
