My 2007 Dodge Ram blew a tipm A/C unit. I was told by the dealer it was because the air conditioner compressor clutch locked up and burned out the tipm. My extended warranty was denied.I paid $1500 to get this fixed this week. The other day I was driving to work and my truck started vibrating and completely stopped in the middle of a very busy road. It was towed to the dealer where I was told it had a foreign substance in the diesel fuel. It smelled like paint thinner. The warranty rep said it was caused by dirt in my fuel tank caused by not changing my fuel filter frequently. Now they tell me it needs 6 fuel injectors and a fuel pump total cost $8000. By the dealer and warranty rep. The truck has 67000 miles.they said this is not warranty issue and will not be covered.

Ram 2500 Diesel

  • 12,000 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. The consumer stated the problem started a year ago with the turbo, and the check engine light coming on. Also the accelerator would open up to full throttle without any control, unless he cut the engine off. At times the gas pedal would not move at all. The rear brakes locked up and the ABS failed. The vehicle pulled to the right, due to the alignment being out of specification. The failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 22,400. Updated 04-28-09 the transmission would not go into overdrive. There were times when the vehicle had to hunt for gears and the indicator would disappear on the dash. Updated 04/29/09.

Prior to this failure no warning signals were illuminated on the instrumental panel. At 11700 miles the right wheel baring and the drive shaft was replaced. At 38,000 miles the front left shaft and center baring was replaced. During repair the instrument panel was converted from miles to kilometers, when converted back the odometer read 12,000 miles less than what it had before. A short time after the egr valve blew along with a 450 amp fuse. All repairs have been at an authorized dealerships and they have been covered under the extended warranty at the owner's expense. Sent to California new motor vehicle board I have owned the vehicle for 183 days as of this letter. It has been in the shop and had R.O.'s open for a total of 64 days. This equates to roughly 35% of my owership time. Dodge has not been able to resolve the problems in a reasonable time. Although their are "X" number of ro's regarding the repairs. It is imperitive to understand that I brought the truck back into the dealership while the ro was open as the failure occured again and again. On two occasions the vehicle was in the service aisle dripping from being freshly washed and ready for pickup, as I started the truck the cel came on (check engine light). I have a new truck that has yet to perform the way it was intended. I have been patient, the people at hemet Chrysler have been wonderful. However, I am done. The major problem with the truck is the turbo/engine brake system. It has only performed properly for about the first 800-900 miles of ownership. The real issue is when the engine brake would come on whenever it wanted to! doesn't sound too bad, but when your sitting at a 2 way stop waiting for traffic to clear, and then you proceed across the street thinking you have enough time only to find out the engine brake has engaged and you are now wondering if you should abandon the vehicle and run because you could make faster on your feet! after 10-15 episodes it was suggested that I stop the vehicle and turn the engine off, wait 30 seconds and restart the truck whenever this happened. Not real practical but ok! next issue same situation; except I am on the freeway traveling 65-70 with the cruise control on, the engine brake comes on and now I am concerned I will be rear ended. There are numerous incidents of safety and functionality. I went to get the truck from the dealership and as I started it the cel came on again. After I left I tried the engine brake and guess what....it no longer works at all!!! this letter was edited down to 2000 characters.
