The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact thought there was a nail in the tires because they were low. He looked under the vehicle and discovered two cracked rims. The two rims were replaced; however, a third rim cracked two and a half years later. There were no recalls available. The current mileage was 123,000 and failure mileage was 42,000.
Contact stated while driving on a dirt road at approximately 15 mph the rear passenger's side tire blew out. He took the vehicle to a tire shop to have the other tires checked. The mechanic at the shop told him the reason the tire had blown out was because the rims cracked.
When the vehicle was taken for an inspection on 7/11/2003 the consumer was informed three out of the four rims were cracked. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, who stated the vehicle was out of warranty. The consumer stated the rims were cracked where the factory mounted.
