The dashboard on the 2001 Dodge Ram with 49,000 miles had cracks all over it. Pieces started to come off. It has not been confirmed yet, but I believed this was the cause of the substance errors due to wiring under the dash getting hot. I am extremely concerned for safety and a potential short which could cause a fire. A dash should not crack after 3-4 years. It started with minor cracks around 2005 and kept getting worse. I have never in my life had any vechile do this but thiswas my first Dodge.

When heater is on dashboard would become very hot. Took vehicle to dealership, and was informed by mechanic that problem was with radio, which was defective. It was replaced. Dashboard problem reappeared again. Kept taking vehicle back to dealership for dashboard problem, and again radio was replaced. Nothing else was checked for cause of overheating dashboard.
