Tires, though we haven't experienced a blow out or treads peeling off, the tires are wearing much quicker than they should. With only 12,000 mile on the vehicle, the tires look like it's been driven 50,000 miles. Mid October we called chrsyler in auburn hills, to let them know how unsafe we feel driving this truck. We have had this truck brought back to the dealer eleven times for warranty work, eight of which were for brake problems.( dot number: M32kerhx tire size: P245/75R16 )

Several components, transmission does not shift properly sounds like driving on small rumble strips at 45, truck wonders aimlessly so much it is difficult to keep from going into oncoming traffic especially if road is a little rough, engine has a constant spark knock, nearly imposible to tow or plow, power steering pump went out while trying to plow for no apparent reason at all. I have talked to mechanics about the sparkknock and recommended burning high octane but the manual suggests it will actually run worse and they are not responable for engine damage from spark knock, wondering was admitted by the service manager and said it is acceptable by Dodge and that's just how they drive, I asked one of the mechanics to look at it before I bought it because I didn't know if maybe I was just used to driving my old one, he said it needed a little time to break-in because it was a 2500 with a heavy duty suspension, it is still the same after almost 11,000 miles.
When reaching the speed of 50 mph and 60 mph vehicle would jerk. Also, when shifting into reverse vehicle would make a crying noise. Car would start in any gear. Owner believes this last problem caused by mechanic.
When accelerating to pass another vehicle, transmission jumped out of gear, and did not go into any other gear until the truck slowed down. This could have caused a crash. Truck has been to the dealership numerous times for this problem, but dealer was not able to duplicate the problem. New valve body installed, but problem still exists.

1. auto transmission drops out of drive to neutral when start from washboard road surface or hit bump while driving. Dealer (ed moses Dodge) says that Chrysler recommends driving in 2nd gear. This info is not in the owners manual. 2. steering will not center - always pulls R or L. 2 attempts by dealer to repair have failed. Unstable on washboard road.
Sudden acceleration ; while travelling slowly transmission will disengege from first gear, as accelerator is depressed, transmission will engage suddenly, causing vehicle to lunge forward.
Ralphs Dodge replaced the rear end with any problems. Now the transmission is gone as of 11/ 12/1999 and still we are without a truck and it doesn't look they plan on fixing it anytime soon.
Reporting defective transmission parts; on two occasions the fifth gear went out due to a nut that retracted and caused the transmission to lose fifth gear. Now on third occasion they will replace transmission. Can NHTSA help or provide additional information on this matter.
While driving approximately 40mph transmission died/stalled out. It had started to jerk before going out. The rpms were revved up. Transmission went into neutral on its own. Then vehicle stopped. Was vacationing in South Carolina when this occurred.
