Have a harmonic type bouncing issue in the rear end of a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 4wd.
At 40-45 mph it gradually increases to the point that vehicles behind will actually back away. You can see the bed bouncing in the mirrors. Seems to always be on the drivers side. It seems to go away at higher speeds and does not exist at lower speeds.
Really confusing thing is at times it wiggle back & forth rather than hop!
The truck has been checked in many ways. Front end, thinking a problem there may transmit to the rear. Rear drive shaft and axles have be removed and truck has been driven without them. Brake drums have been switched from side to side. Drive shaft has been rebalanced, tires have been replaced, shocks have been replaced. Tires and rims have been switched with another vehicle. Problem persists.
Have been dealing with this for 5 or 6 years now. Very upset and annoyed with this.
Can't figure it out and no one seems to know why it would be happening.
