When applying the brakes, vehicle has no power. Also, the power steering failed, causing consumer to put vehicle into neutral, and rev the engine. Took six months to get part after repeated calls. Front brakes wearing out prematurely because rear brakes are not self adjusting. Very unsafe when braking at higher speeds. The left rear axle seal was leaking. Water collects near the passenger door underneath the carpet.
Just pulled away from green light when another vehicle pulled out also. Consumer's vehicle's engine roared after being hit. Traveled 30ft & hit telephone pole. Had no steering or brake control. The air bags failed to deploy upon impact with the pole. The right front end was only hit slightly.
Dealership and Chrysler have acknowledged that this is a known fault and a technical service bulletin has been filed with NHTSA yet they refuse to resolve the problem citing that the vehicle has been modified with an aftermarket lift kit. I have been in contact with one other Dodge vehicle owner with the same problem. His name is richard hardy (714) 964-0483. He has also been denied warranty work. He, along with a local suspension shop have worked to identify the problem with the brakes and suspension. Unable to locate the problem, he submitted to Dodge's demoands of removing the lift kit ( this is a difficult 6 hour process). The problem still existed when the lift kit was removed. When the vehicle was returned to Mr. Hardy after the warranty work was completed it still exhibits the same problem. As this is a known problem and existed prior to the installation of the lift kit, I have refused to remove my lift kit as it has no bearing on remedying the problem. I am appealing to you to help me resolve this issue.
ABS brake problems; when applying brakes duriing heavy braking conditions, ABS brakes do not work correctly, and truck glides along. This happens on normal road condtions. The dealer is not able to detect what the problem is with the system.
Excessive pedal effort required to stop vehicle in normal braking situations. Front brakes smoke during hard stops or in stop and go traffic. It also gives off a burning smell. Brought back to dealer 2 times and they state that it is "normal". I just found out that in 1997, Dodge changed the master cylinder on this truck to a larger unit. The rest of the brake system components are the same. I would think that this would solve my problem.
The brakes were replaced at least 5 different times. Brake lining overheats when brakes are applied. Vehicle not stopping when brakes are applied quickly. Dealer cannot find problem.
Rear brakes failed, and vehicle pulled either to the right or left, incident occurred at any time and at any speed. The dealer could not duplicate the problem. It resulted in three accidents.
When driving at various speed and applying brakes, vehicle pulls to the left. The harder pushes on brakes the harder vehicle pulls to left. Consumer has to counter steer in order to avoid hitting oncoming traffic. Has replaced brakes pads, but defect is still occurring.
