The 545RFE 5 speed in the 2011 Ram 1500 4x4 I have started hunting in RPM when slowly accelerating from 45 to 50 mph. I took the truck in for the recall work in May and Bryan CJD charged me $150 to not figure it out. My wife was driving the truck and the CEL came on; the truck threw a code. There are few transmission places in the area. I took it to Oliver Brothers in Bryan, Tx. They said it would need a torque converter and rebuild since it threw a P0740 code. They couldn't get to it for 3 weeks.
I had my wife take it to a shop closer to home and the guy there has been unable to diagnose it. He says the torque converter is good and the transmission is fine. He thinks it could be something electrical. It drives but I don't want to have to rebuild the tranny for nothing. My 2001 Ram 2500 had a similar issue where we just ran a ground from the battery to the engine block. I am having deja vu all over again!
