Battery exploded....had to clean the area with lots of water and also replace battery.. ruined my new shirt in the process of removing the bits and pieces of battery that were scattered all over the engine...had to rinse it with water for a few minutes.. new battery was easily over $200.00

Later that day I noticed that the battery gauge was running over the center mark. My mechanic said it was not good and also touched the cable to battery from alt and was running hotter than it should..... I noticed that the gauge was right on center only in the evening or night time..... maybe I should cover the auto light sensors during the day and keep them covered always... not exactly sure where its located... manual doesn't say. Any suggestions?

On Monday evening 9/29/14, went to pick up friend 4 MNF. Started up truck, there was a loud noise that came from underneath the hood. Then I saw blue smoke, not a good sign. Key stuck in ignition, would not come out. Open hood, the negative side of the battery had blown off. Would definitely like to know what caused this! Replaced battery, so far so good but if this happens again?
