I brought my 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 truck to the dealer after several days of it having difficulties starting. Per the dealership, they could not advise why the truck was having the issues as there were no problem codes saved in the computer. I mentioned to them about the forums in which I had read up on involving the faulty TIPM modules and was told that they were unaware of such issues. There was no recall conducted on this make and model of vehicle, however, there were recalls done for other similar year Dodge and Jeep vehicles.
I was originally told that my battery needed to be replaced and that it would fix the problem. So I bought a new battery and wouldn't you know, it didn't help. I had to bring the truck back to the dealer and once again advised them of the recent forum posts; this time I brought a video of the truck not starting just to prove my case. Sure enough, they said it was a faulty TIPM and that it was not covered under the warranty. So now here it is, over 200 bucks already invested in this problem just so they can tell me that the part alone is over 900 bucks and then labor costs.
At what point is the part going to be recalled if they know there is a problem with these parts?
