tipm problem : it started by not starting some times then would stall going around a corner which is dangerous because you lose power steering. After a week after of never knowing when it was going to start it just quit. I had it towed to a garage & the mechanic said the fuel pump was not pumping so he replaced it. It worked for one day and would not start again. He got online and read an article by Jason Bell who made a jumper wire to by pass the fuel pump relay, now it works fine except it wont start with the remote key (fob). This will be my last RAM, the tipm is 1500 dollars to replace when they know they have a problem and wont help you with it

Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, my wife and I went out for the evening. When we returned to the Ram, it was completely dead, no power, no lights, nothing. We had to ask for a jump to finally get going. The following day, we took the vehicle in for a new battery. This cost: $198.99. Later this date, my wife was using the truck and although there was power, it would not start up properly. She left the vehicle sit for a while and it finally started. On Monday, Spet. 19, 2016, I took the vehicle into the dealer and explained the problem. The following day, the dealer called and at first stated that they would have to replace to fuel pump and all of the spark plugs. I authorized the work. The dealer later called back to state that they had then identified the problem as a faulty TIPM and the cost would be over $2000. I authorized the repair. In the mean time, my wife and I researched "TIPM" and found that this has apparently been an ongoing problem. In reality, if the manufacturer has been aware of this then shame on them! Apparently, numerous problems could have occurred with this issue. In the end, the dealer charged me $2189.48 for the replacement of the TIPM, a new fuel filter and "waste oil". From what I understand, this should have been a recall issue. How many more vehicle owners have to go through this?

Spend 30 minutes trying to get my truck to start after it sits for an hour or so. replaced everything the dodge dealership said like the fuel pump, battery, starter, oil pressure sensor, alternator, and still the exact same issue. they keep trying to have me replace them parts then another dealership says its a faulty tipm. got to looking into it and everybody seems to come across that issue but yet be stuck paying for it out of pocket since they dont want to just recall it and fix their own screw up.

Woke up one morning truck was dead, chrysler said bad alternator, 400$'s later, battery was dead the next day, battery was split open leaking battery acid, 300$ later next day battery dead again, chrysler said alternator was defective again, next day battery dead again, couldnt find the problem for over a month, finally ran across a thread online about TIPM internal relay being bad causing fuel pump to not shut off, took back to chrysler, they want 1800$ to repair, i bypassed it myself until a better solution comes around. The drain on the battery was so high it over heated 2 batteries in 1 month causing both of them to crack open and leak acid, could have very well caused a fire

TIPM how can they not consider this a safety issue? Started with power windows acting weird at 7000 miles past the 100,000 mile extended warranty. recently a week of why is it turning over but not starting sometimes. and finally a tow truck to mechanic.. Now he telling me how long the wait is for the TIPM from dealer. well cant wait a month or more.

Little research tonight reveals that this faulty TIPM could cause airbags problems.. Well isnt this great,, Here's a flippin' problem someone would have no idea a problem till too late.. Been a Dodge guy for 40 yrs now since old enough too drive. Really disappointed that they can't at least offer a lesser price tag on this $800-900 part, plus labor...

Began with starting problems occasionally then became more frequent. On Monday Aug 15th I was driving about 30-35 mph when truck shut down..had all I could do to pull over to the side of the road safely.. The truck wouldn't start. Called a tow truck which wasn't needed after all. Started and ran long enough to get it to the dealer about 500 feet down the road..parked and again would not start!!

On Tuesday received a call saying the tipm was bad and needed to be replaced..in the meantime I had to get a rental at $73.00 a day!! The service dept said part was ordered and would be in in 3 days..extended warranty covered rental for 3 days..it is now Friday and part didn't come in..rental car returned because I can't afford that..service department didn't seem too concerned and said maybe tomorrow (Saturday). So now I have been 5 days without my vehicle and lost time from work.

I contacted Chrysler and they were no help at all!!! I've read up on this and it seems to be a problem but they don't think so!! I could of been hurt but luckily no one was behind me at the time!! This was a scary situation and no one seems to give a sh*t!!! Now I'm aggravated and feel they're dicking us around!!! So what's next?

In late June 2016 I started having a problem that once my 2011 Dodge 1500 sat for more than a day, the truck would not start as if the battery was dead. I took the battery to a local parts store and was told the battery was borderline for needing replaced. I went ahead and purchased a new battery.

A couple of days later the truck was dead again. I then set up an appointment and took it to Federico in Wood River IL. For the truck not starting and my tire pressure was not reading on any of the tiers on the dash. I received a call from Rick the service advisor and was told my back up camera was “wired wrong by a third party”. I called the dealership where I bought the truck and asked who wired it and were they going to stand by it. I was told by Cassen Dodge in Edwardsville IL they themselves had installed it at their location with Mopar parts. They informed me they would not stand by it because it had been too long. They recommended I call back Federico and ask why if it was wired wrong was the problem showing up 5 years later?

I called Federico back and ask the question of why 5 years later was this problem just now showing up and informed them it was installed by a Dodge dealership. I was then told the backup camera needed to be replaced. I was also told if I wanted the tire pressure to register again I would need to replace the TPIM, it was written by Rick on my receipt by him when I picked up my truck to replace the TPIM would be $950 P/L ( parts and labor). I was told to fix the backup camera would be approximately $400. I agreed to have only the issue with the camera fixed at this time and I would fix the TPIM at a later date. I dropped my truck off on 6/27 and received it back on 7/6/2016. Mileage was 45,720. When I received my truck Rick “Guaranteed me the issue was the camera”.

A few days later my truck was dead again. I made another appointment and the truck was taken back to Federico on 7/14/16. I was then told the TPIM was turning on about every 36 hours and drawing may battery down and would need replaced. I was told now that the cost about $1100 for the part only. A $200 increase from the price I was told on 7/6 when it was written $950 for both parts and labor. I was told if I took the truck anywhere else the cost would have been about $1600 parts and labor but Fedirico was willing to wave the labor since I still was having issues since my last visit there. Online the average repair cost shows $1200 for parts and labor. I was told this would fix the dead battery issue and the issues for the tire pressure not reading on the dash.

I received my truck back again on 7/19/2016. When I got in the truck I noticed the tire pressure was still not registering on the dash. I stopped before leaving the lot and told Rick the service advisor that it still was not registering. He told me I would need to drive 100 miles and it would registers and start working.

As of 7/24 after my truck had set for 2 days it would not start. I jumped my truck and drove to meet the 100 miles Rick advised I would need to get the tire pressure reading to work again. I have driven the truck 150 miles since I picked it up on 7/19. The truck is still having starting issues and the tier pressure is still not registering. Also the mileage was recorded incorrectly on my receipt for 7/18. Mileage was recorded as 46021. The truck had 45750 as the next oil change sticker on the window read 48750.

First off i wanna say that i love this truck, 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 big horn 5.7 hemi. that being said, this was a very frustrating issue. I go to remote start the truck, and no luck.. Go out to start it and to my amazment it was unlocked and dead in the water.. one would think someone removed the battery, but there was a red flashing security light on my dash. I disconnected the negative from my battery for 1 minute and to my amazment it started!!! drove fine after that, no issues until it rained the next week.. once again dead in the water... after trouble shooting for hours, i had it towed to dealer. turned out to be a TIMP issue, covered under extended warranty, THANK YOU LORD! I really hope that this issue will be recalled for the many people that do not have warranty, dodge needs to step up and address this issue before they loose any more customers.

I have a 2011 Ram Laramie Longhorn with a Hemi. Shortly after rolling over 100,000 miles my truck failed to start first attempt. It went away and had no problems till 4 months later! Now in the mornings i pray itll start with the remote start. AND i've learned to open the gas cap and check to make sure the fuel pump is NOT running or I'll come to a truck with a dead battery in the morning! This is RETARDED! Customers paying good money for nice trucks just to have them become unreliable. Its the same problem they recalled the Durango and Jeep Cherokee's for. It's getting frustrating and I really hope Dodge will recall this soon I'm tired of listening to the starter whirling the engine over with no signs of life, or having my engine start then quickly lope down and die. FIX THIS DODGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My truck had problems turning over when starting, but after a few tries it would turn over and I would be on my way. Now that its been a month it has become worse. As I was driving home and just up the street my truck shut down on me, luckily I was able to let it cost to the house in front of mine where it now sits. Tried asking Dodge about having it fix and was pretty much told me good luck. Oh and its not covered under an extended warranty.

Bought the truck used, a 1 owner vehicle that had only highway miles. Within a few days of purchasing the vehicle, I went out one morning to move the truck and it failed to start on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd try, but did eventually start. I at first chalked it up to moisture in the air, cold weather and etc..

After a few weeks of dealing with the cranking issue (they would come and go) I finally narrowed down after spending nearly 200 dollars on a new battery, that was not needed. I arrived home one evening and after I turned the truck off and exited the vehicle, I had a noise coming from the rear of the truck. It was the fuel pump failing to turn off, which in turn would be the reason behind the constant deaf batteries and the potential for having to replace a fuel pump.

After doing some research, I encountered several other Chrysler product owners (no one specific for my year model, which caused it to be more difficult in taking down solutions) having the same issues. I used a fuse jumper but it was only a band-aid to the otherwise gaping wound to my truck. It sufficed until I was able to track down an individual that sold remanned TIPMS with 2 year warranties and bought a "new to me" TIPM. I installed myself because I've read countless stories of dealer/buyer horror stories and the LACK OF KNOWLEDGE by certified service techs, I refused to even involve them, and especially since the vehicle was purchased used.

This issue is a financial drain (I was semi lucky as this present date and found one rebuilt) due to the higher dealer repair costs and it is a safety concern, not so much as safety on the roadways in my case, but in reference to the safety of loved ones who may become stranded in a high crime area or unfamiliar place due to the TIPM malfunction that cause the fuel pump relay to be faulty and draining the battery. Accept responsibility for your actions, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM. For the ones who love these manufacturers, they've let us all down due to the lack of concern or care for their new and even always faithful owners. You

First it seemed as if the fuel pump went out. Replaced it, but had issues with starting. I had to try a couple of times to get it to start. Thought it may be the K1 and K2 relays, but they were fine. I thought they were the cause of a strange clicking sound, but pulled both relays and clicking sound remained. Turns out it is coming from the actual tipm board itself. I wonder what to expect after I save up the money to replace it. Bring back the 318!

I purchased this truck on 11/29/2014 used with 76,000 miles on it. On 10/02/2014 the PCM failed causing the key to not be able to be removed from the ignition. This cost was a little over $500. I purchased a warranty with it and it covered that problem. I asked for an extended warranty of 75,000 miles beyond the date of purchase warranty. Both the saleswoman and finance officer agreed and approved me with an additional $2,000.00 to the cost of purchase for the warranty cost to be financed with the vehicle.

On or around the 4th of July 2015 my wife and I was driving on a back country road in GA in the a.m. to go do pressure washing for a department store when all of a sudden while driving at 60 mph the truck loses all power and would not crank up. we were towed later that morning to a local Chrysler dealership in Jackson Ga where they claim they didn't know what the problem was, but was sure it was the motor and possibly the transmission as well.

The diagnostic was like $280.00 and we had the truck towed back home over a hundred miles away costing about three hundred more dollars. Get it here at the dealership I purchased it at they now tell me it is out of warranty and that I purchased a warranty that ran concurrent with the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I rented a truck from enterprise that particular week while my truck was being repaired.The cost of the rental was $400.00. By the way I was told my lifters were bad and the truck could not get any compression. The cost out of my pocket for this repair was $2004.76. So

since their warranty was deceptive and nonexistent I decided to purchase a warranty from an independent company for a total of $3800.00 for five years and an additional 100,000 miles. This sets me back at $175.00 a month besides the truck not and truck insurance. But while I was yet in a 30 day grace period waiting on my new warranty coverage to go into effect.The truck cuts off coming off an off ramp in the middle of a busy highway. I call my insurance company to have them tow the vehicle to the dealership.The dealer diagnose the problem as a bad fuel pump and I incur another cost of $576.00.

Immediately after they so call repair the problem the UCONNECT defects along with a blend door on the ac unit. Warranty covers both but only repairs one. The dealership claims they could not pull the code for the UCONNECT to be repaired..I took the truck to an independent repair shop they pulled the code immediately and repaired the uconnect malfunction.A recent as January of 2016 the truck shuts off again while driving. I have the truck towed in and they call my warranty company to verify coverage and tell them the TPIM , but calls me and tell me it is the fuel module.

Guess what. My warranty company does not cover the TPIM. The cost of the TPIM with labor costs is $1,240.00. I called Dodge and don't expect them to be stand up.about these raggedly ass trucks. Dodge told me if I bought the part they reimburse me in about 7-30 days for the cost of the part. TPIM still unrepaired and it has been TPIM all along.

First of all, let me just say I loved this truck. I bought it new, paid it off early, and planned on owning it for a very long time. That is, until the day it wouldn't start.

After a bad rainstorm, I went out to start it, turned the key and nothing happened. I opened the hood and the hood light was on, battery showed 12.5V, WTH? I called up the dealership, (Browns in Patchogue) and they told me I could have it towed to them. It was just out of warranty by two months so no help there. I disconnected the battery twice and then after reconnecting it, it started. I made an appointment at the dealership but could not get in for almost 3 weeks!

Then, after a couple of days, the fun started. The fuel gauge dropped to E, the low brake fluid light came on, the traction control light would go on and off. Wife would not drive it anymore. Thought maybe the battery was the issue. Replaced it and no difference. Used it a couple more times, nothing changed. It went into the dealer, the technician said I needed a new fuel tank sending unit and a master cylinder. I owed them $200 for diagnostic work and then they wanted another 900 to replace both parts + labor. I said it does not make any sense, why would both items go bad at the same time, why wouldn't the truck start, and why was my traction control light going on and off? Answer I got was traction control was working fine, don't know why your truck wouldn't start and you should replace both parts.

Took my truck to an independent shop, told him what was wrong, after some diagnostic work, he said it needed a new TIPM. WTH is that? He told me to go back to the dealer and get it replaced. Went back to the dealership, spoke to the service manager and was told it was not the issue and they would not replace it. So, I left pissed. Now over the next few days, I drove the crap out of it and the gas gauge started to work again. Then, the low brake fluid light went off too. This thing is possessed I thought. Now everything seems to be back to normal until I turned on the A/C. As soon as I did that, all the issues came back. I went to the dealership again asked another manager about the TIPM and I was told that this is not an issue with this truck. REALLY? His answer, do the original work the tech wanted to do, not the TIPM. I went to the Chrysler website, wrote a message and asked for help. Never heard back from them.

Frustrated, I spoke to the salesman I bought it from, he acted surprised and told me he would be happy to help me. That was to take it off my hands and give me a deal on a new one! What a surprise. I was not interested in getting another one that could have the same issue.

So I went to the Chevy dealership and bought a new Silverado. Very disappointed with Chrysler for this, I have been a loyal buyer of their cars for the last 15 years but not anymore. I guess even though they went through bankruptcy they didn't learn their lesson. Too bad. My advice is don't buy one and certainly not without an extended factory warranty that covers items like this.

My Ram 1500 sport would not start while shopping and getting ready to go home. The engine would crank but not start. called a tow truck but before it arrived the truck started (over 15 attempts to start). The next day in the am it didn't start again. Blizzard conditions in Long Island New York that day. Called into work for the next day and set up a tow to the dealership. Dealership diagnosed a faulty TIPM. Took them 2 days for the diagnoses. Over 1500 dollars to repair. Said no and bought a jumper cable online to by-pass the faulty TIPM (Fuel pump relay). Cost $270 at dealership, $143.51 for rental car and $38 for jumper cable. LONG WEEK!!!

Power Train warranty didn,t cover the TIPM.

Wipers are dead. 4wd is not working now and just waiting to see what goes next.

Took to dodge and they said that they had no idea. "Haven't experienced this yet". I call B.S.!!!!!!

Dodge has to wake up and recall this part. Pretty soon I'm just going to have a very expensive planter in front yard.

I will never buy dodge again!!!!!!! If they won't stand buy their products how can they expect us to?
