two days ago it had rained slightly, I opened the rear door(crew cab), to vacuum. I noticed the top of the back seat was wet, but not soaked. I didn't think too much about it because I thought maybe it was just some splash from opening the door. The next day I had my truck washed, but did not notice anything weird at that time, but later that day I went to the grocery store and it rained like crazy. When I went to put my groceries into the back of the truck, the whole back seat was wet. Not flooded out, but way wet. I looked up at the corner of the head liner and it was dripping. DAMN!!!! I got home and did some google searching and found numerous complaints, similar to what I was seeing. A lot of people say it was the rear window seal, so I called the dealership where I bought my truck 5 1/2 years ago. They were aware of the problem (no sh*t), and immediately told me it is the 3rd brake light assembly. The rubber seal wears out pretty early on in the light and it costs about $30.00. Two things to keep in mind; First, do some trouble shooting, or ask around. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, so generally when I take my vehicles in for service, I already know the cause of the problem(s). Second, the internet is FULL of info. You'll usually find answers with solutions to your situation. The biggest concern I have, is why hasn't Dodge been forthright with this information. They're looking to prey on the people who are less inclined to search for answers. Can you imagine what they would charge to trouble shoot and repair this $30.00 item. I think I'm going to contact the corporate headquarters and inform them of this simple fix, and request a recall on the 3rd brake lights.
