Ram 1500 3500 Laramie 6.7L Td

I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 single rear Cummins T/D with (4300) miles. on (10/26/2010) I was towing my camper when the engine started knocking. I just happen to be less than a mile from the Dealership so I was able to limp it over. Immediately they were making references toward the fuel I had added, but I knew that I had only added diesel fuel to the vehicle so I was not concerned. The dealerships Diesel Tech pulled a fuel sample and through a visual inspection he determined it was bad diesel fuel (kerosene in the fuel) and it would not be covered under warranty and it would cost me over $1000 to fix it. I immediately disagreed and let them know I have only added fuel to this vehicle approximately (8) times and most of time from a new Go Mart gas station in Nutter Fort WV, and the truck was only (6) months old with (4400) miles and still in the (1) year bumper to bumper warranty… they did not care! I then proceeded to call dealerships in my area asking them if they had a run on vehicles with bad diesel fuel, and not one of them said they had, so I contacted Chrysler Corporation (Case #20091523). They sent a Chrysler representative to the dealership (Urse Dodge, Fairmont WV) and his visual determination also was that there was Kerosene in the fuel and this caused the injector to hydro-lock, so Chrysler Corp said sorry for your luck... pay us and we'll fix it. Still, I am not buying this! The truck sat at Urse Dodge for (8) days with no results so I had the vehicle towed to Country Club Chrysler because I felt Urse was ripping me off… again, with only (4400) miles I should be covered under the Factory Warranty for whatever reason, and they were blaming it on the fuel as a way out. Country Club Chrysler had to get the Chrysler Rep involved and again he said this is the truck from Urse and we are not going to cover it. At this point I was able to get my insurance company involved because the repair was going to be over $1000 and Chrysler is telling me it is my responsibility to prove the fuel is not bad… they have done their part. The Insurance Representative was able to get a fuel sample and send it out for evaluation. The results of the fuel came back with NO contamination or dirt in the fuel; ASO2 (Diesel Fuel) was in the tank. I am now thinking this is settled and they are going to fix this under warranty. They then told me that was wrong and there is dirt in the bottom of the tank and the fuel sample did not pick it up and they will send all the injectors out for evaluation and if one of those comes back with dirt in it, it is my problem again and not covered under warranty. By this time the truck has been in the shop for (25) days… still no resolve in site and no loaner vehicle! The injectors were examined and it was determined they had debris in them… again I am unsure that with only (4400) miles how this could have happened. I went back to Country Club Chrysler where they proceeded to show me the little black debris in the bottom of the fuel tank. There was not enough to cover up a fingernail but they are confident that this is the reason for the problems. I still do not agree! I went (7) weeks (10/26/2010) without my new truck and not a loaner vehicle supplied. Even if there is debris in the tank I still should not have had to go through what I am going through to get my new truck fixed because I believe the debris may have been in there from the factory and they cannot prove that it wasn’t! NOW 500 miles later the same problem and Urse Dodge is putting me on the back burner working on my truck!!!!!! They know there is a problem with the DPF and will not admit it I am afraid I am going to have a battle on my hands.

Sincerely,

Gregg Perris
