For some reason Dodge has something called 2nd gear (Prime) which will destroy the clutches to overdrive if you pass a vehicle over 45 miles per hour, and the transmission drops down to 2nd gear. So you can't put the accelerator pedal to the floor to pass at or above 45 mph because you take the chance this transmission will go into 2nd prime, causing major transmission problems requiring the overhaul, or replacement of the transmission, costing the owner around $3,000.00 to fix. Many people have had this failure with the 545RFE transmission.
My truck, a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, was purchased in Dec. 2013 with 57,000 miles, the transmission failed in Nov. 2015 at 72,907 miles. Prior to the failure, around 2,400 miles, I had the transmission fluid cooler replaced with a new Ram 3500 transmission fluid cooler, the transmission fluid, and filters were also replaced.
