I purchased a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup in November 2008. It has been well maintained and taken care of, however the rear fenders are rusting out. The rust is spreading and getting worse and worse. The excessive rusting has spread to both sides of the truck on the lower door panels. I had a conversation with the body shop manager at a dealership, who told me that there was an engineering flaw that is causing this model year to rust through. I do not believe repairing the rust damage is my financial burden to bear when the reason for the rust is the fault of the manufacturer. Another problem I am experiencing is that all of the lug nuts have moisture inside of them that is causing them to swell. Therefore when going to take any of the tires off, I am unable to use the correct size socket tool. The approximate cost to replace all of the lug nuts is $250, all of which is due to no fault of my own. I should also mention another costly repair was required at only 90,000 when the engine head was found to be warped/out of tolerance, which resulted in cylinders misfiring. I had to pay ~$5,000 to have a mechanic in my area repair this issue. The mechanic informed me that it could have been caused by a manufacturing defect. Overall, with a truck that has 96,000 miles and is only 13 years old, there has been an excessive amount of issues and money spent on fixing problems that did not originate from me, but with the manufacturer. I would like to see action taken on the expensive rust problem I am experiencing that drastically lowers the value of my vehicle and many other people are experiencing because of this manufacturing/engineering flaw.

I had to repair the wheel wells over the tires because the screws and plates used in its manufacture cause dirt and moisture to collect there rather than slide off and that area pre rusted before the rest of the body of the truck it is still rusting because of this defect and I'm losing the back sides of the truck around the rear tires.

Driving home from night school on a local, rural highway, cross traffic has stop signs... I was northbound at the posted speed limit of 55mph. A 2008 Toyota 4runner was waiting on a cross street to go westbound, said car abruptly attempted to cross infront of me. I managed to get my foot to the brakes the instant before impact, estimated speed at impact was 50mph. No air bag deployment. My truck was a total loss. I "T-boned" the 4runner in the driver door, it was sent rolling, coming to a rest on its driver side 25 feet in front of my Ram 1500 about 60 feet West of the roadway. How is it possible my air bags didn't deploy" why didn't my lawyers sue Chrysler" I had a severe chest contusion from my seatbelt, strained back, my left arm was jammed from finger tips to shoulder and I had a fracture and strain in my hand/wrist that required weeks of rehab. Its 3 1/2 years later and I still have daily pain and stiffness.

It had been raining the night before and when I got ready to leave for work I heard water in the back of the truck. I stopped and opened the back door and found water pooled under the back seat. The rear window was not left opened and I could not determine where the water had entered.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The jack that comes with the vehicle was bolted onto the floor board. Because of the changes in the weather, the bolts holding the jack in place broke and prevented the contact from the being able to remove the jack and change a flat tire. When the bolts broke a hole was in the floor board. The dealer directed the contact to the manufacturer who advised him to call a welder. The manufacturer did not pay for the repair because the failure was not under warranty, even though there was a 5 year warranty on the vehicle pertaining to rust. The failure mileage was 40000. The current mileage was 42000.
