2006 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab, I purchased and have had numerous problems from the start. The transmission engages in such a way as to cause my body to move forward then back, I took it back to the dealership on three occasions, they changed the fluid and put in two new filters, still same problem, I was told by the mechanic of 22 years that's the new transmission feature to keep it from wearing out, it only engages when you stomp on the gas"?? 30000 miles started leaking black fluid at front wheel, took to dealership, said suspension was gone, part has been on back order since August 2008 it is now Feb. 2009 and no expected arrival date of the part. My tires have worn out completely due to this issue, after continually calling the dealership and complaining they are installing an oem suspension part and will give me one free tire.. waahoo, what about the other 3"

No injuries or accident, but almost happened. Driving and stopped at a stop sign and proceeded across highway in safe manner. When I reached in the middle of the intersection my truck would not go. The engine was still running and tried to proceed and the truck would not go. As oncoming traffic was approaching I got out of my truck and almost watched my truck get hit by another motorist talking on the cell phone. Stopped within 4 feet or lower of hitting my truck. After this I got back in to move my truck to a safe location, I tried again to see if it will go after that and it would only go about 5 miles an hour. So I creeped it to the dealership and they put the truck on the computer and 10 different codes came up.. they couldn't do anything that day and said Monday bring it back. Soon as I got there the service engine light went off and the service advisor said that there were no codes came up. My vehicle has been in the shop over 8 times for the same thing and they could not fix it. I felt my vehicle was very unsafe for me so I traded that vehicle in for another kind of vehicle. The reason I am telling you this I don't want anything to happen to somebody else and cause a serious accident with that type of vehicle I owned and everyone that I'd talk to that had that vehicle said they were having the same problems.

  • 26,000 miles
2006 truck has been into the dealership numerous times for recalls and then had a transmission failure at 26,000 miles, they took the truck and then had to send it 100 miles away to be returned with one of the same problems still happening. They had it for 5 weeks and could not fix the problem. Also have warped rotors on front and had to replace tires on front. I think all they did was change fluid in tranny.

Bought 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 slt June 2006 100 miles on it on way home brakes pulled sharpley. Glendale, ca Dodge replaced brake rotors, pads, & calipers@500 miles, due to leaking...front end has been messed up since...vibrates at various speeds, so badly at times feels like front end is going to shake off...front right tire feels like it's warped at times, pulsing in brake pedal when braking, not always, have taken it in to dealer various times they claim nothing wrong...dealer replaced drive shaft last visit, 07/2007, with 20,000 miles...no change....additionally, transmission feels like it's slipping at times and at 60 mph, on level road, transmission feels like it's in to high of a gear, if I was driving a manuel I'd shift down at least 1 gear, at times the vehicle shakes with acceleration, the dealer states, you guessed it, there's no problem..I do not even like driving the truck on the fwy...finally, truck jumps whenever you hit a bump, suspension feels loose, like the shocks are blown, any uneven surface makes the truck unstable.. to say I am frustrated is an understatement!!! the incident dates are various I have been dealing with this for a year!!

Since new the 2006 Dodge 1500 quad cab has excessive shaking at idle position. Dealer said shaking is due to the vehicle type. When cold the truck doesn't engage in reverse fully which causes slippage... it doesn't want to move without hard accelerator depression.

Ram 1500 6-cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 5,800 miles
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 regcab swb. While driving 40 mph on a clear day the contact smelled brake fumes and heard a loud noise from inside the engine compartment. The contact looked through the rear view mirror and noticed loose metal underneath the vehicle. The contact attempted to use the shifter and the clutch, but neither worked. The vehicle eventually shut off and coasted to a strip mall. The contact exited the vehicle and entered a building when a loud noise was heard. The vehicle had ignited into flames, causing the hood to burst open. The vehicle was completely destroyed. The vehicle was towed to earnharts Dodge. The contact called the company responsible for the vehicle's warranty, and was informed that it would be one to two business days before they could respond. The warranty company failed to respond, but the insurance company arrived and had the vehicle towed to their salvage yard. A week later, an investigator from Dodge stated that the contact will not be given the investigation report because a claim was filed with the insurance company. The fire investigator for state farm insurance indicated the fire was caused by the metal case of the transmission. In addition to the clutch assembly components being distorted and bent. Prior to the fire the contact owned the vehicle for approximately five months. The failure mileage was 5,800.

: the contact stated there is a noise coming from the transmission. The dealership determined the noise was normal and the vehicle needed to be broken in. The noise continues to come from the transmission and now the rear end vibrates. Additionally, on five occasions while driving 60mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted each time after five minutes. The dealer has been unable to duplicate the problem.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. It was bought in November 2005. The transmission started leaking so I took into the dealership that I bought it from. It is a silicone seal on the transmission was it was leaking. The dealership replaced the seal. The next day it was leaking way worse than before. I called the dealership and let them know of the problem and they told me that they could replace it again but most likely it would still leak because it was a silicone seal and they couldn't put any other seal on it because it was against Dodge regulations. That is what the put on the truck from the factory so the can't put anything else on it. So the transmission will continue to leak. I don't agree with this especially the amount of money that I paid for the vehicle and also my safety as well as others. Also it is still under warranty. So now if this problem isn't fixed my transmission will have to be replaced.
