The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Turn signals fail to work completely, or right turn signal will activate while using left signal or vise-versa. Headlights will fail while this "multi-function switch" shorts out. No wipers, no turn signals, no lights.
The problem first occurred at highway speeds where the signal fails to operate, operates the opposite signal of what the driver selected or alternates rapidly both turn signals. Additionally when this happens the high speed on the wipers and the hazards fail as well. The problem now occurs sitting still or any speed, it appears to be a bad multifunction switch. This is definitely a dangerous and from what I've read, far to common a problem.

The turn signal multiswitch malfunctions constantly. Sometimes both signals flash when your turning one way other times it is just the opposite side flashes. This is a major saftey issue that Chrysler should have to recall. It could very easily cause an accident if another driver thinks you are turning the opposite way than you are going to turn. Needs a recall, many blogs on line talking about this!
2006 Dodge Ram mega cab-32000 miles. Multi-function switch does not work properly. Left turn signal activates when signalling right or vice versa. Windshield wipers do not always turn on causing hazardous and unsafe driving conditions in inclimate weather. Multi-function switch has been replaced three times already. Dealer advised Dodge was aware of the problem but was not responsible since a recall had not been mandated. Complaint filed with Chrysler customer care over issue of responsibility and knowingly replacing defective parts with known defective parts. The issue has not been resolved to this date.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 left turn signal turns on right turn signal as well. Almost caused huge accident on freeway. Found out this is a very common problem. Why is this not recalled? everyone is having this problem!!!!

The failure was the same when the right turn signal was activated. The dealer was contacted and advised that there were no recalls and they would have to replace the multi function switch at a cost to the contact. The manufacturer was not contacted. I own 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 mega cab the turn signal and wiper switch works at best some of the time it is impossible to use the turn signals when they are turned on they just go haywire and the windshield wipers have to be turned on and of to get to work then they stop. Trying to get Dodge to fix the issue..
