At first the wipers would stop randomly (while driving in a rainstorm) but I would fiddle with the switch and they would normally come back on. In the last week they basically quit working altogether other than a random stroke here or there. I replaced the wiper/signal control switch on the steering column yesterday thinking it must be worn out. To no avail, the wipers are not working and after researching on the internet, I find that it is a very common problem. People are replacing parts, spending money at service centers and not getting the problem solved. I live in the rainy northwest and I can tell you that it is a big safety issue not being able to see in front of you while navigating I-5 at 70mph at some random point during a trip. This problem started over a year ago but was always a momentary thing and would resolve itself, but it is now a permanent problem and I wish I knew what part replacement would resolve it.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500. Vehicle would shut down while driving. Engine would crank but not turn over. Mechanic had to tear into engine to find the problem. Rods bent, valve sticking, timing chain jump. Basically the engine was shot. Repair cost $3,000. It appears that a lot of other people have the same problem and it cannot be diagnosed without tearing into the engine. Also turn signal would blink opposite of where turning. Dodge needs to do something about this. These are safety issues! I would like to be reimbursed my costs. Mileage on vehicle: 158,000. Interesting enough, I have a 2001 Dodge Ram that has over 307,000 miles on it and never had this problem.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced all four tires but the failure recurred. The contact was also included in NHTSA campaign id number: 15V313000 (air bags) and was unable to determine when the part would become available to schedule the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000. Updated 11/25/15 the consumer stated while driving on the freeway the transmission popped loudly. The electrical system is unreliable. The turn signals, emergency flashers, high beams, and windshield wipers all operate unintentionally. Updated 2/12/16

When it is very hot and the windows have been up, the ignition switch will not turn. The steering wheel will not turn and the key will not rotate from locked position. I have contacted Dodge and they say they have made notes on the issue, but they don't see a problem that they are responsible for. If this was an issue that I would have control of creating - it would be my problem. This is an issue with safety in that if I had an emergency and this happened I would not be able to start my car. Or, have a car-full of groceries and find out the car won't start!!! bad enough I have to wait for the car to cool off when this happens. This is a summertime issue which makes me have to find shade or park where the sun doesn't shine into the front of the car. Problem seems to be a part (probably plastic) that expands when it gets very hot and prevents the key cylinder from rotating. This can't be the only car with this issue as Dodge would elude to...

For more than 1 year, the tachometer in my Dodge Ram has functioned intermittently. On 3/25/15 I noticed that the driver-side low-beam headlight bulb was out. I replaced the bulb without effect. My mechanic diagnosed the tipm module as the culprit for both the headlight and tachometer failure. He will replace the module, at a cost of roughly $1000, when a replacement can be obtained. It is estimated that it will be at least 4 weeks from the time of diagnosis before that replacement tipm will be available. In the meantime, I must drive my truck with only one headlight and then I will have to pay more than $1000 to have this repaired.

When turning on the left turn signal the right one comes on. Also sometimes when activating turn signals the wipers will come on as well as the window wash/spray. To correct the problem I have to hit the steering column and it will correct. I have spoken with other Ram owners who have had the same experience.

It started with the rear passenger window not working, then the locks, then all the windows. They work intermittently however it's becoming more of an issue than not. My truck goes through lamps quickly I replace a headlight at least 2 times a year and several reverse lights over the last 2 years. Most recently I noticed the integrated controls on the steering wheel don't T work or work inappropriately. I can no longer turn my radio off with the push of a button. As of last week the interior lights shut off abruptly and don't work with one of my doors. It appears it is just getting worse and worse.

Driver side low beam head light does not work. Bulb replaced, continued to not be operational. Took to Chrysler/Dodge deal, who connected a 'code' reader which indicated the problem was the tipm. Tipm was not replaced due to cost & the vehicle was out of warranty due to mileage.

We went for a drive to medora nd. Where we spent the night and after we left to return home on hwy 94 when I was pulled over by a state highway patrol. The officer said I hadn't turned my signal on. I told her that I had and while she getting my information I was checking out my signals they would work and then they wouldn't then I turned on the left signal and the right would come on when it turned the right the right worked fine. I turned the four way flasher the left signal would come on. Weird. When the officer came back to the truck I told her there is something wrong with my signals. She said that I should take in and have it checked out. So I am now waiting to get it into the Dodge dealership. They are really messed up nothing works as it should. I have noticed after doing a search that many Dodge pickups have the same issue. I hope this will help encourage a recall for this vehicle.

Over the life of the vehicle to date 4 - 5 times the engine electrical system has shut down when the vehicle struck a large pothole, jarring the truck. The engine shut down and after putting the truck in neutral, I am able to start the engine again. The dealer has not been able to find any reason for this failure. After recent publicity concerning other vehicle shut downs resulting in the air bag system being disabled, I am concerned over the safety of the vehicle.

My 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 mega cab began to have problems with the rear controls, I.e. the door locks, power windows, speakers, dome lights. Doors to not lock or unlock nor does the safety auto lock work. Window rolled down but not up. Vehicle was taken to the place of purchase and discovered that under normal use of the rear door, the wiring harness had several broken wires in it. It was fixed for $340. I believe I now have problems with the passenger side wiring harness. Is this a manufacturer defect? how do the wires break inside the harness which are also inside the door and/or body of the truck. I now know of two other people with Dodge Ram 1500's that are also having the same problem. I have two small children, I should not have to worry about their safety because of faulty wiring!!
