I have found a website (heatertreater.Net) that offers an aftermarket fix of all five doors in the heater box that are made of steel. I plan on trying these out and want to make it a one time permanent fix. As you know if you have had this problem, tearing out the dash is a real pain in the ass, and very expensive ($100.00 /hr. Labor) to have a dealer do the fix with plastic replacement parts that are doomed to fail again. Dodge should recall the truck and replace these entire units at no cost to the owner as it is a design flaw due to the doors being made of plastic, not to mention using actuator motors that have too much torque to begin with that try to force the doors past the closing points.
I'm looking into an aftermarket fix from Heatertreater.net who offers all five doors in steel and intend to replace all of the doors so its a one time job and I am able to replace all 5 doors at once.
Since day one of owning this piece of junk truck there has been not heat on the floor, although one day during the summer when I had the A/C running i heard a loud blowing noise coming from underneath of the dash where the air would normal come out for the floor heat. Needles to say I didnt have the selector knob on the floor. This is the only time it has blown air to the floor. I freeze my feet off during the winter months driving this truck.
Bought this truck used and later found no heat on the floor. After some research and removing most of the dash, this can't be fixed except by the dealer. There is a website of a company that specializes in heater repairs for all makes and they have fixes for other issues but not this one. Blend doors and such. They have a video on these fixes but for this particular problem you literally have to cut and bend part of the sheet metal dash support to get to this to fix it. They don't recommend it and claim it isn't a big deal. Well I'm tired of cold feet in the winter. Last winter was mild, but the two previous ones with temps in the -25 range, I need floor heat!
This truck should be lemon yellow with all the issues it has. Between this truck and my wife's van I'm done with Chrysler

This is the same type of problem I had with my 2004 and now I cannot get heat to blow on the floor of my 2006 Dodge pickup and the dealer wants $1000 bucks to fix. Yes, I am finish with Dodge, never again will I buy a Dodge.
Purchased a 2006 1500 4WD Dodge extended cab pickup truck in mid September of 2011. Didn't check the heater because the outside temp was probably around 80 degrees. A few weeks later when it was colder I turned the heat on and discovered it would not blow heat out at the floor. It blew it out at the windshield. Went in and hollered at the dealership and they fixed it. This was probably in December of 2011. On January 9, 2012 it started doing the same thing so I took it back. Supposedly it is now fixed, but I have not picked it up yet. They are not supposed to charge me, but I guess I will find out. Who would expect a $17,000 vehicle to have heater problems? Not to mention another problem was the dashboard did not light up at night. They fixed that, but I had to pay $100.00 towards that and that now works except the know for the headlights does not light up at night and I am fairly certain it is supposed to. Other than all that it seems to be a decent truck, but I am probably done with that dealership as my feeling these things should all be checked out and repaired before they ever put them on the sales lot!
The heater will not work on the floor vents. The ac will with my flip flops on but not the heater. It will work on defrost or face vents, Its crazy......I am really getting tired of my car falling apart piece by piece....
I was just wondering if anyone had a fix for this yet, I usually work on my own vehicles but I don't know where to start on this yet. Is it electrical? The rest of my system works fine so I was thinking it might just be the switch but I don't know how to check it. So my only option is to buy a new one and hope that is the problem unless anyone else knows what is wrong.
After it stopped working I took it to a local dealership (Edd Kirby) buyer beware. I spent $150.00 out of pocket and 4 trips to get it fixed and this morning it stopped again. When I switch it to floor heat it blows out of the defroster,now I'm just pissed.
this is the first for me - having no heat on the floor, its getting cold out here in the west of NM and let me say its no fun. like all the others, I have read about the same problem that we should not be the ones having to pay for any fixings. let Dodge fix them. hell yea !!
