The blend door on the 2005 Dodge Ram goes bad easily. When this happens the ac/ and heater re-circulation is damaged. This causes visibility issues. This is a very common issue. I'm surprised this has not been recalled yet or even looked into.

Driving at approximately 35 mph one of the defroster vents broke and fell into the ductwork. Later that day noticed the dash had cracked. As this problem has just started on my truck I have seen from other Dodge Ram where this will progress and the dash will fall in, damaging wires and circuits. This is a potential fire hazard as well as possibly causing systems such as headlights, etc. To stop working when needed most. Dodge informed me that if they looked at the dash, and I decided not to pay to fix the dash, they would charge me $85 for their time. That is not acceptable on so many levels. Dodge should be forced to do something about this.

  • 70,050 miles
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quadcab lwb. While driving 65 mph in below zero temperatures, the pvc return system causes the vehicle to squirt oil into the engine. As a result, the defrost system becomes clogged and fails. The windows were unable to defrost and left oil residue on the windshield. The failure has caused severe eye burnings, stomach pains, and choking of the occupants. The manufacturer stated that there was no mechanical failure and no parts available. They were unable to determine and correct the failure. When the parts arrive, the repair will cost $400. The manufacturer also advised the contact to drive in temperatures above zero degrees. The failure and current mileages were 70,050.

2005 Dodge Ram 1500, defrost door in heater/HVAC housing broken, not allowing for 'full' defrost of the windshield. Difficult in colder climate (Michigan) to keep windshield clear. Repair tops $700 with only $50 in parts. Chrylser will not assist with the repair however they have a tsb dating back to 2003 identifying the problem.
