The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle and discovered that the driveshaft was fractured. An independent mechanic stated that the bearings and spider gears needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph the front driver side hub wheel bearing failed and the wheel came off. The vehicle slid 120 feet before it stopped. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and an investigation was done. The dealer stated that there was no manufacturers defect found and the failure was caused by normal wear and tear. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 93,000. Updated 11/22/10 the consumer learned a recall had been issued for the problem he experienced. Recall # 07V038000. Updated 11/23/10
Wheel bearing hub assembly failed causing right front wheel to lock up and fall inward as vehicle was being driven. Wheel bearing hub was found to have fallen apart and showed lack of grease.
