As I was going down the road the other day, one of my defroster vents fell to pieces into the duct work. I then noticed a crack all the way across the dash front to back. As this was a 2005 model that I purchased new, only had 34000 miles, and still looked new (besides the dash that is falling apart) I was sure Dodge would do something about it.
I emailed Dodge Customer relations, and received an email and a phone call from "Amanda". She explained that I needed to take the truck to the local Dodge dealership (Efirds-Florence SC) and they would diagnose the issue, and she would follow up. Well I call Efirds and told him the issue. He said to drop it off next week and they would do a cost workup on the expense to repair, and that if I didn't want to fix it, they would CHARGE ME $85 to look at it!!!! I hope I am not the only person that thinks having to pay the dealership $85 to look at a manufacturer defect is the damn stupidest thing I have heard to date.
I told the guy to forget it, I would contact Dodge back. I emailed "Amanda" told he what I thought of the "charge". She said the dealership had to "diagnose" the cracked dash and if I had it repaired the charge would "usually be waved". But if I didn't want it fixed, she would just close the file. Great customer service there Dodge. In my opinion, they are saying "buy a Dodge, and replace your dash every 6 years."
I then emailed her that basically I am going to make it my life's mission to let the world know the treatment I received and that Dodge and customer service should not be mentioned in the same sentence.
At this point I am pretty pissed, after purchasing 2 new dodges in past I am done. And I will NOT be paying Dodge to look at their manufacturing problem. Anybody want to buy a slightly used Ram??
