I worked in an office and have always had two other primary vehicles and so did not often use my dodge ram 1500 2003 truck hence the low mileage. Most of the time it was parked inside the garage out of the sun. When parked outside always covered dashboard by sun visor.
I bought the truck brand new from the dealer and so am the only owner of the truck. Even with this extremely light/protected usage the dashboard after five years of being careful with the dashboard, it started cracking all over the dashboard. What an awful mess and clearly this was a terrible defect by the dodge manufacturer. I have suffered as pieces of the dashboard have flown off striking us if the air conditioner is turned . Therefore, I have had to keep the air conditioner off and only turn it on when the heat becomes unbearble in that I am fearful of the dashboard plastic flying off and striking a passenger.
I would like to have the dashboard at least replaced at no cost by Dodge and there should be a recall to avoid injury of the disintegrating dashboards.
