It's still bad but at least it quit cracking. I emptied several tubes of caulk inside the dash so that the dash wouldn't be hollow, like the person's head was when he designed this piece of hollow dash... Seems to me all other dashes in my other trucks had some kind of insulation foam or something in it, but Ram and Dodge and Chrysler are trying to cut corners to save a buck at the expense of their loyal customers… That's not how the other big 2 do business in America.

Hey big corporate bullies - stop f#%^#ing your loyal customers over and do the right f%$#ing thing and fix all your f*%^k up. We shouldn’t have to suffer because you all are being greedy a***!!!

This truck dash is literally falling apart. The dash is cracked in numerous places and the cracks are made worse by simply touching them. All the vent grates have disintegrated and fallen into the vents. I am concerned that pieces of sharp plastic will become air born if there is an accident. You can count on being sued if someone gets cut with this cheap and unstable dashboard. I think the term Dodge Tough is a phreaking joke when one considers this flimsy plastic dashboard. These trucks will be around for another 10 or 15 years... I would not want this crap to be part of my legacy. I could never recommend anyone purchasing a truck that had such an obvious flaw and was not addressed in any way by the manufacturer after 16 years of complaints from a huge number of owners. Shame on you!!! You could turn all of this bad publicity into praise so easily... How stupid to not fix this.

Contacted Dodge and the local dealer in Norfolk Southern Dodge and have gotten the run around for 6 weeks. Terrible customer service. Finally got Dodge to tell me they will not warranty the cracked dash. Southern Dodge still has not gotten back to me with an answer. I know the truck is old but I am the original owner and it is apparent the Dodge has a problem with the dashes. Called the 800 number for Dodge was told they where aware of the problem and to bring the truck to Southern Dodge. So the run around began and never ended. Wish them luck keeping other customers.

Like others have reported, when I called my local Dodge Dealership I was told that this is a cosmetic problem that does effect the driving functions of the vehicle and that my truck is no longer under warranty.

I have owned many vehicles in my lifetime and never, I repeat never, have I ever had such a problem on a car. every month the dash cracks a bit more or an existing crack goes a bit deeper. Now, there are a few where the crack is so deep and wide the vent is starting to sag down behind the front of the dash.

In almost every other way, I love this truck. I so wish that Dodge would stand-up and do the right thing.

The dash started cracking shortly after I bought the truck and continued to crash more and more as the months went on. I looked up replacement dashboards and they are abhorrent expensive for a piece of molded plastic! I resorted to upholstering the dash the best I could with upholstery glue and fabric. I just checked it again after a couple of years and the dash is even more cracked and splintering even with the fabric on. This is a disgusting display of craftsmanship and care! Chrysler should be ashamed! I thought the USA built the best products? Evidently I'm mistaken. Does Chrysler not care about it's customers?

urgent airbag recall - repair may cause additional dash dmg

Recently purchased a used 2003 Dodge (after my (now) preferred Ford F150) was stolen. The used 2003 1500 V8 had a straightline crack on the dash (almost looked hairline, no spider or broken pieces). Knowing this was a known problem, and after finding out I missed, or there was no current recall on my other 1998 Dodge Ram's inherited with purchase, cracked dash, I didn't worry about trying to repair or re-skin the 2003's less visible straightline crack. This last week I get an NHTSA URGENT AIRBAG RECALL that could cause death upon airbag deployment and a potential metal plate fragmenting. When taken to the shop for repair, the technician states that it is likely/possible that the hairline/straightline crack, would be made worse when the remove the dash to replace the air bag assembly and they required me to sign that I would be responsible for any additional damage that might occur to the dash upon removal. I called the Dodge/Chrysler Customer Care/Reimbursement number provided (1-800-853-1403) to no avail. I am not sure if the repair shop would have damaged the dash any more, but it sounded like this airbag replacement was done for several Dodges already having a cracked dash and the chances were pretty high that additional dash damage would occur. I wasn't asking that they repair the dash if it didn't have a re-call, but it is not right for me to be responsible for the shop causing potential additional damage. This is a potential health impact issue, and Dodge should not be allowed to require me to pay for damage that their certified shop may cause, while they are trying to replace another potentially faulty piece of equipment lying underneath the other faulty piece. I've owned Ford and Chevy trucks and did not have a problem with cracked dash. This truck was recently purchased by me, so I feel holding the miles and late year against me is also not responsible on their part.

It is clear that Dodge would rather take on a law-suit after potential bodily harm caused due to faulty equipment and design then to repair, or even offer assistance with a resolution if they cause additional damage during recall repair.

DOWN WITH DODGE!!!!

First the speaker vents cracked then the defrost vents crack and few in and then few out . i was getting hit in the face consistently until all the vents finally deteriorated away .

I am afraid to see what the dash will look like when i pick int up tomorrow .

First of all I could be kill shrapnel flying from the airbags! But now I Can survive the accident but be killed by a defective dashboard throwing sharp plastic throughout the cabin possible hitting everyone including my grand kids in the back seat.

I"m a veteran and flying pieces of anything at high Velocity is bad news for anyone in the blast zone!!!

( Airbags explosion, bags Rapid deployment casing immense stress on dashboard )especially in a closed cabin area like inside a truck. This is serious do we really need to wait till enough die?????

Now 2017 I am having my airbags replaced and Dodge told me my dash could crack even more or just fall apart to nothing ??!!! Nothing they can do ......Now ,.the one defective that could kill me is fixed but now I have another which concealable Kill everyone on the the truck nice job Dodge!!!!!!!!!WTF!

My dashboard has just been cracking more and more from the second year of owning.

It has about 25 cracks now and is ready to fall apart even though all I could do is epoxy some of the cracks.

It should have been recalled. I've seen many complaints over the years. There is no way the airbag recall can be replaced without the dash crumbling apart. I want dodge to replace both.

I also had issues over the years with the defrost / heat /air conditioning flow. Three different Dodge dealers couldn't fix it right. I luckily at the time had an executive that helped by letting me go to a private repair shop that fixed it immediately and she sent them the repair cost and thanked them for being better than Dodge repair men.
