CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2002 has the well-known and documented problem with their dashboards falling to pieces, but it also has engine failure from oil sludge. That's a doube shot of awful in your morning coffee.

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S
I currently have two Dodge Ram trucks, a 2002 4WD and a 2003 2WD, otherwise both are basically identical, these are my 8th and 9th Rams - (Mind you Dodge seems to not have any concept of customer loyalty.)
Both trucks lose the right taillight when it rains. I have replaced lamp holders, and driven myself crazy tracing the wiring trying to find a corroded connector or a worn insulation that might short out if damp. The turn signals and brake lights work just fine, it is only the parking light that disappears. When the 03 was new, I took it to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the problem so could never find it... So they said...
I have done everything short of flipping over the fuse box and opening that up. Two trucks, same basic SLT 26G amenities package, both quad cabs.
the 02 has over 340K and the 03 has over 230K and I go to extremes to change oil, watch fluids, have repaired bearings, rear-ends and suspension etc.
