This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 had a leak in the exhaust system and caught fire. The consumer stated the vehicle suddenly stalled. The fire damaged the undercarriage of the truck, and melted the gas tank and bed liner.
The factory undercoating was put so heavy and sloppy that when the engine exhaust system heats up the undercoating drips on the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe "flashing" causing hazardous fumes to enter the cab of the vehicle thru the air condition ducts. I requested a "material safety data sheet" for the applied undercoating from the dealership but haven't received anything to date. The fumes entering the truck are suspected carcinogens and could have long term affects.
