The dashboard on the 2001 Dodge Ram, 1500 started cracking about 18 months ago. It has now progressed to the point that I am fearful that the structural integrity of the entire dashboard was compromised, and that the passenger side air bag might not function as designed.
The air bags on the driver and passenger sides did not deploy. This happened on September 28, 2005. Contacted the manufacturer, there was no forewarning, and the airbag warning light was not on prior to the crash. This was a frontal impact, it totaled both vehicles involved.
