STARTED MY RELIABLE PIECE OF CRAP DODGE UP, TO WARM AND CAME OUT TO A CAB FILLED WITH SMOKE...........BLACK , ACRID , BURNING PLASTIC SMOKE.
The heater-blower motor went bad, seized up and overheated the wires in the harness, including some to the resistor. the wires melted into the rugs, burned a little bit into the heater box, and scared the sh*t out of me and my dog............I talked with my friend who is a dealership tech at Havill Spoerel In Jefferson WISCONSIN.........He said he had already seen two like this that year...............with the interiors completely gutted due to fire......................I dont claim to understand the whole harness in these modern cars BUT!!!
i DO KNOW THAT SOME THING SMALLER SHOULDA BLOWN AND SHUT OFF THE POWER! I replaced wires, the motor, the resistor and the plugs from a junk yard truck(new motor and resistor though)
The next fall same thing , except while driving, atleast this time I knew where to grab and yank,
I finally put a small in line fuse in the motor power lead, blown twice since, put two motors and one resistor in but had no more fires...................
