I have had problems with the brakes wearing out quickly ( had them relined twice) and the manufacturer will not honor its warranty. The brakes are very unsafe.
On 08-21-01 our truck was in for repairs to the steering column. At that time we asked the service representative if there was a recall on the driver side air bag and they said no. I saw on the news about 2 months ago that there was a recall on the 2000 Dodge Ram quad cab. The ABS did not work because we slid about 70 to 100 feet. We did go to the place the truck was purchased and told them that the air bags nor did the ABS work they had no comment. I want someone to investigate and find out if the service department or the manufacturer is responsible for these things not working.
Consumer has multiple problems: First, ABS locked up & wouldn't unlock until vehicle stopped. Dealer has changed every part they can think off, didn't have a clue to a remedy. Manufacturer said ABS was only used for emergency purposes. Second, problem involved brake fluid leaking. Dealer found a seal leaking, and put in a new master cylinder. Consumer picked vehicle up, and it didn't make it for 3 blocks. Front wheels locked up. Only thing that dealer had to say was sometimes they get bad parts. Consumer has more information to send in. Factory battery shorted out along with radio. The dash cluster, thermostat and housing on engie, crank sensor, both front rotors and calipers and steering gear box were replaced.
Right front brakes would hang up. Whenever applying brakes, they would grab & pull hard to the right. Took to dealer at least 3-4 times for brake problem. Mechanic would not replace the brakes due to not able to duplicate the problem which was intermittent.
When putting on brakes real hard vehicle will pull to left. If turning just slightly left or right, vehicle will quickly go left or right. Consumer has to really watch the road. The rear bumper is 24 inches off the ground where as the front bumper is only 21 inches.
When brake pedal is applied it feels like a rock, vehicle dose not respond to the application of the brakes, vehicle will not slow down. This happens intermittently. Dealer has been contacted.
While traveling on highway brakes locked up and started to smoke. Took vehicle to dealer, and mechanic noticed burned areas on hubs, and did not replace them or the shoes. Vehicle was parked and rolled forward into a tree. Each time dealer was informed, and nothing showed up as defective.
