Started noticing an unusual scraping, or rubbing sound occasionally coming from the front end. Wasn't sure what it was, but eventually I found out it was caused by defective ball joints. I got stuck in the mud at a field, and wanted to avoid using the 4 wheel drive at all costs to avoid further damage, called a friend to pull me out, and he thought the damage was in the coil springs, and proceeded to put the truck into four wheel drive, and broke the u-joint clean off. I had to pull out the shaft piece, and replace the shaft piece with a shaft sealing kit. I've had damage estimates for repair looking at anywhere from 3k-5k dollars to repair. Truck needs a new front axle, and it needs a new gearbox as well.
If you hear rubbing or scraping sounds, replace the ball joints ASAP.
