The center console doubles as a center seat back-rest by lifting the front of the console until it is vertical. My oldest son borrowed the truck this past summer to move all of his stuff from one apartment to another. He had a couple of friends helping him, so he lifted the console to enable all three of them to sit in the front seat of the truck. Since that day, I haven't been able to lower it back to its original console position. And on top of that, while the console is up in the "seat-back" position, the console can't be opened, and that's where the owners manual, registration, insurance cards, etc. are located.
