So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Transmission failure due to faulty transmission cooler and lines. Transmission overheated and fluid leaked out and caught fire on highway. The selling dealership was contacted and they stated that there were no known defects with trans or cooler. Replaced transmission at a garage. That trans melted down after fifty miles. Bought second trans in the next town. It melted down after 150 miles. Third reansmission shop went to a local dealer and replaced the defective cooler assembly and the third transmission operated without problem. Dodge never notified me of the recall, resulting in thousands of dollars of loss. I only discovered the recall when a Canadian dealership asked if I had the recall performed. Something must be done about these dishonest Dodge dealers.
The hoses in the transmission are blowing off, causing fluid to spill. This results in transmission failure and vehicle overheating. Consumer will take vehicle to dealer for repairs for the second time due to this problem.
I stopped my 1995 Dodge Ram pickup, put it in park, and got out of the truck to talk to a man to get directions to a pharmacy nearby. I talked to the man for a minute or so and he told me that my truck was beginning to roll. In my attempt to stop the truck that was rolling backwards toward a busy street, I fell and the front tire on the pickup ran over both of my legs. The truck had slipped from park into reverse. This resulted in a broken fibula in my left leg with deep cuts on my left ankle. The right leg was severely cut all the way to the bone and required 32 stitches and my right ankle was also deeply cut. After running me over the pickup then hit a car. I was hospitalized for a total of 19 days. I am still experiencing severe problems with both of my legs. My truck then ran into a car.

While driving and when brakes were applied they did not hold, pedal went all the way to the floor, consumer stated the vehicle coasted through a red light through a busy intersection, this was caused by a hole in the brake line, which was the result of the way the brake line was assembled.. consumer stated the 4X4 did not work, the tire blew out, there was a water leak and the carpet had to be replaced twice, the rear window was replaced, the rear brakes never worked, the radio was inoperative, the hood light flickered while driving, and also vehicle experienced transmission problems.
I own a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4, I was at a friends house and when I left it acted like it was low on transmission fluid.I had changed the fluid and filter the day before.when I left his house I got maybe 300-400 ft, went to go around the corner and it wouldn't go forward, I put it in reverse and it moved about 20 ft backwards and that is where it sat.I had my brother help me tow it home, and that is where it sits to this day.(the torque converter locked up, overdrive quit working, and the kickdown quit working).
While driving, transmission went into neutral and then lost power. Consumer states transmission has delayed engagement and is slipping on 2-3 shift. Dealer found transmission front pump leaking down. Replaced torque converter, pump assembly, trans cooler line and drained back valve, worn clutch. Shifter indicator slightly out of adjustment. Vehicle won't hold on hill without brakes applied. Consumer states there is an intermittent strong fuel smell at drivers door when vehicle is shut off.
While driving 20mph, and shifting gears it would stick in first gear. This caused the transmission to slip and not shift properly. Transmission has bee replaced 3 times, but problem still exists. Please add VIN.
Transmission was slipping and would not go into gear. Consumer had transmission rebuilt, but did not remedy problem. Transmission was still slipping until it finally went out. Contacted dealer. Please add further information.
While traveling at 60 mph and when passing another vehicle, vehicle shifted up, causing transmission to lose all power. Transmission shifted down into passing gear, then when consumer passed vehicle, he let up on the accelerator and the transmission shifted up into drive and all power was lost.
The overdrive engages without warning while driving at speeds of 65 mph or greater. This causes the RPM to jump from 2000 to 3500 and the speed instantly declines. This is very frightening and could cause us to be rear ended by the car behind us.
The reverse has gone out in this vehicle 3 times now it costs around $1700 each time fixed please tell me if there is something wrong in the transmission.
