Recall 97V084000 was issued, however recall did not include diesel engines. While driving the vehicle began shifting hard and the transmission fluid connector broke on the cooler line. As a result, the transmission fluid leaked onto the exhaust.
The vehicle experienced the same defect with the transmission cooling lines as stated in recall 97 V 084 000. The vehicles VIN was not included in the recall.
While driving vehicle stalled out. Transmission blewout which was caused by pressure clip on line blowing off, all the fuel ran out.*also, there were 5 recalls, dealer only fixed one, hood latch.
While driving about 55 and when engine started smoking consumer drove off road. Then, found out that transmission oil was all over engine. Took vehicle to dealer for repairs on the plastic transmission lines. The transmission failed prmaturely, possibly due to the transmission oil leak.
Transmission colling line is leaking from heat exchange unit onto exhaust unit. Dealership informed consumer vehicle was not a part of recall 97V084000 due to VIN. The local transmission shop indicated that there were numerous diesel vehicles with this problem.

Consumer was traveling in late evening and when turning on headlights, tailights and parking lights didn't come on. Those lights came on after wiggling headlight switch. But, there was a burning smell coming from dashboard. Connector to harness had melted. Recall 97V084000/ transmission cooling lines on Dodge, Ram light duty trucks fits the same description as consumer's problem.

95V056ooo/hood assembly:latches; 97V084000/transmission cooling line; 97V199 000/fuel tank rollover valve, and 00V135000/ignition swtich wiring. Consumer received recall notices since Mar 1995, and still was unable to get dealer to honor the recalls because of no parts being available. Dealer would call and tell consumer to bring vehicle in for a part that was available. However, when consumer arrived the part was already given to someone else. Plastic clip that holds transmission cooling line has worked its way loose, causing transmission fluid to spray onto turbo charger, almost resulting in a fire. Chrysler denies that there is a problem, however, the dealership is replacing the lines for vehicles under warranty. Vehicle has been repaired, but owner wants reimbursement.
The transmission cooling line runnig from transmission to the radiator rusted through and was leaking on the underside of the truck, covering the whole bottom rear end with transmission fluid. This could have caused a fire if enough of fluid had spilled onto the exhaust system. The dealer has been contacted and repaired the vehicle.
Due to a design flaw transmission lines rub together and cause a hole in the lines, resulting a transmission leak which sprays fluid onto exhaust manifold. This could cause a fire. Dealer replaced the lines, and installed a part to keep the lines separate.
When driving noticed transmission fuel coming from under the vehicle and the clip broke, causing more fuel to leak from the vehicle. There is a strong smell, and the consumer is concerned about a fire.
Received recall notice (#97V084000) transmission cooling system. Vehicle in accident. Original owner refused to repair. Insurance company totaled it. Was repairable. Brought/repaired & sold by body shop. 2nd owner received notice & took to dealership. Mechanic called zone representative who refused to have vehicle repaired due to no warranty & salvaged vehicle. Manufacturer agreed w/zone representative.
Received recall notice (#97V084000) over 2 1/2 months ago. Contacted dealer & was informed had no parts & would order them. Dealer did not know when parts would be available.
This consumer feels that the repairs were not done properly because only one quick connect fitting was replaced when both connectors should have been replaced. Consumer states both are one inch apart with the same hazard potential, recall 97V084.
