While driving in stop and go traffic my 1995 Dodge ram1500 pick up went from firm steady braking, to pedal on the floor no brakes.after searching for the problem I have learned that the brakeline between the framerail and the fueltank ruptured spraying brakefluid at high volume. Also I have noticed heavy rust on the lines (not stainless steel as I thought). As of this document I have not began repairs.

A brake failure due to a rupture in the front passenger side brake hose connected to the caliper. This failure led me to narrowly escape an accident when attempting to stop at a red light. The failure appears to be caused by the brake line being too short causing excessive flexing during turning at the crimp connector on the caliper end of the brake line.

While driving and when brakes were applied they did not hold, pedal went all the way to the floor, consumer stated the vehicle coasted through a red light through a busy intersection, this was caused by a hole in the brake line, which was the result of the way the brake line was assembled.. consumer stated the 4X4 did not work, the tire blew out, there was a water leak and the carpet had to be replaced twice, the rear window was replaced, the rear brakes never worked, the radio was inoperative, the hood light flickered while driving, and also vehicle experienced transmission problems.

The brake hose failed because of a design defect. The bracket that is part of the hose assembly causes a bend in the hose that forces the hose to contact the wheel wearing a hole in the hose. The replacement hose is designed to eliminate this bend. The right hose is designed the same way. Apparently, Chrysler found this problem and corrected it but did not recall the defective parts.
