The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer and the dealer stated that the rear differential broke causing the axle to detach from the vehicle. The contact towed the vehicle to a local mechanic to get a second opinion. The local mechanic suggested that the contact have the axle welded and tested by a specialist. The contact had the vehicle towed to another dealer to have the vehicle inspected. The failure mileage was 48,000. Updated 01/19/10 the mechanic inspected the vehicle and found broken welds at the trailing arm mount at the rear differential. Updated 01/20/10
