The Parking brake has never worked on this car. While it was under warranty I reported it to the dealer, the dealer "fixed" it stating it just needed adjusted. It did not work after their "FIX". The brake will not hold the car on any slope regardless of how steep it is. After complaining about it many times the warranty ran out and I did nothing for several years until I had a minor incident and the car started to roll down my driveway and onto the road! I had new brake hubs, brake linings and hardware put on to "FIX" the problem. The brakes still would not hold the car. I took it to different repair shop. After two days of trying to get them adjusted, the mechanic gave up and stated that it just does not work and checking with other garages he was told that the parking brakes on the Nitro never work even when new.
One of the mechanics at the dealership where I purchased it told me off the record, that they never work from new! Save your money. It is a bad design.
PA requires annual inspections, the Nitro always pass the inspection because the garages doing the inspections don't test them. They know the parking brake does not work and don't waste their time checking them.
