I loved my Neon, the gas mileage, the sporty performance, and the e-brake it was great for drifting. The leak in the trunk was very irritating and was something I could never find. At first we thought the water was coming through the bottom of the vehicle but after reading the complaints I'm certain it's coming from the trunk. When I got my car it had a musky smell to it but I never knew what had caused that.

In April of 2015 we had 3 days where it rained straight. When my friends got into the back of my car, my backseat was flooded, about 2 inches deep. I wouldn't have noticed because none of it got into the front seats. I then looked where the spare tire was and that was when I saw all of the rust on the carpet and on the spare tire. I vacuumed out over a gallon of water and was not very happy about it. I never got it fixed but I now bought a new car and I'm happy to have that car and the problems out of my hair.

My rant is putting it mildly.
It's pretty bad when you have to carry a bailing bucket with you to bail out the back seat floor area behind the driver. The water is laying there- (it's amazing how deep it is). The driver side in the front on the floor is soaked too, but not as deep. Parts of the trunk carpet are wet and, in the spare wheel compartment, water is laying there also.

When the weather is -20C, there's more ice on the inside of the window than the outside because of all the water. Nice having all your wrenches and jack laying in water plus your tools.

I've had to wait 'til the weather warmed so I could get the mat off the back floor passenger side because it was frozen there. I've searched all over that car looking to see where the water was getting in, even sat in the back as well with it pouring rain, thunder and lightning. No way could I find the leaking.

I tried re-caulking all around the windows-still not helping. Also, re-caulked around the trunk-still no solution. Got under the car and caulked the wheel welds and anything that looked suspicious-still not helping.

I feel I've done everything I could to find where the water is coming in. The only way is to rip the inside apart and take another look . When the weather warms up, before the mosquitoes start biting, ripping the inside apart is a possibility. I am determined! This is definitely not acceptable.

I discovered this problem last year right after it rained. I grabbed something from the back seat and the floor boards of my vehicle where FLOODED. I am apparently not the only one who has experienced this DISASTER and I feel it should be considered a recall. Not only has it ruined several items in my trunk before I realized this issue but it has managed to find itself leaking through my seats and onto my carpeting. Which in turn has been a HUGE expense having my seats and carpeting professionally cleaned a couple of times to get rid of the odor!!! now I smell......hmmmm a RECALL!!!!!
