Engine head gasket failed causing oil to leak from vehicle. Consumer has taken vehicle in twice already to get this looked into, but after tsecond time head gasket had some corrosion and had to be replaced.
Attempt to have Chrysler fix head gasket failed; would not authorize replacement of head gasket because car is used, near 100000 miles, and six years from manufacture; head gasket must be replaced by me at my own cost; A/C leak has never been completely determined, although several leaks were found and fixed; blower motor recently died. Linkage "blew apart" at some point in 2001 and had to be repaired using oem washers and nuts.
The head gasket failed, while driving down busy road with one month old daughter in vehicle, I am very disappointed in Dodge, that they have not recalled head gaskets on 1995 Dodge Neons.
Have had this vehicle checked by 3 independent mechanics, all 3 diagnose that the head gasket is faulty and that this is acommon problem with Dodge Neons. Our Dodge dealership denies that this is a known problem and after diagnosing the car have told us ther is nothing wrong with it.
Bleeder valve cap cracked, causing fuel to leak from the car. Occured 3 different times. Oil leak occurred from the head gasket. Erratic and difficulty when accelerating.
My Neon has leaked oil for almost 2 years now. Headgasket was replaced once before and it continued to leak oil immediately after repairs. The car is now "bubbling" and is probably heading for headgasket failure again.
The engine light often comes on without a cause. It is so costly to check without an fix that I am thinking about not having it check anymore. The head gasket is a major problem on these cars. I do not have the money to fix it at this time. I am waiting for a call from Dodge to see if they will help. This should be replaced at their cost. Too many people have had this problem. The rotor and calipers problem was scary. I was applying my brakes when a crunch was heard. It became hard to keep control of the car. The camshaft seal came out of the head. I had to purchase a new one. I find it interesting that a lot of Neon owners are having the same problems. I wish Dodge would pull their share of the cost so trust could be restablished. Thank you for your time, robyn knouff.
Consumer states he took vehicle in for service, and was informed that the head gasket on the engine was leaking, consumer was informed that repairs would be $1500 consumer did some research and found that other owners were having the same problems, therefore consumer asked what Chrysler was going to do, they then agreed that they would fix problem for $400 as a courtesy, consumer belives that Chrysler should have fixed the problem at no charge and he is requesting that his $400 be reimbursed.
Oil light comes on, leaving huge puddles of oil when stopped. Also, vehicle leaves a trail of oil when driving, and vehicle smokes a lot. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated there was not a recall on this problem.
This problem with the head gasket appears to be widespread in the Neons. Although DC has not admitted to a faulty part they have sent out several technicial bulletins on how to install a new gasket and have paid for the repairs in cars under 50000 miles. On my car the head was so pitted that dealer could not replace the gasket and expect it to seal properly. I do not think this is the fault of the dealer but a manufatures defect in the head itself which lead to the gasket leaking. Although my dealership offered to pick up the cost of the head on a goodwill warrenty I believe the entire cost should be picked by DC since they are aware of this defect. As it stands now, after calling DC customer services they have not made a final decission on what amount to pick up for the repairs. I have diligently maintained my car since purchasing it and do not feel they are justified in asking me to pick up any of the cost on something clearly the fault of the material and the manufacturer.
Chysler should be forced to do a recall of Neons due to badly designed headgaskets on all Neons there are thousands of vehicles developing this problem and Chrysler is very secretive about how much they are willing to pay if you are not under warranty. Also a recall on the A/C evaporator for leakage is needed this problem has also occurred in thousands of Neons and Chrysler is unwilling to admit that the unit is defective.
White smoke was coming from tail pipe, running rough, and loss of oil while driving. Vehicle taken to dealer, and informed consumer of a blown head gasket. Repairs were made at consumer's expense.
