My son had just purchased this vehicle from Hawaii sight unseen as we are in Nebraska. After fueling the vehicle up, it stalled within two miles of filling up. We had it towed to a mechanic as we were unsure what the problem was. After lengthy testing they found that the "fuel rollover float" was the problem. Apparently Dodge had some problems with the 19 gallon tanks wherein when the tank was full the "float" thought the vehicle was rolling over and would stop fuel flow to the motor. However, this is an 18 gallon tank and so far there have not been any recalls for this fuel tank. There needs to be.

I bought a 2006 Dodge Magnum on 11-19-2015 and had it delivered to my house that evening. The gas tank was almost completely empty so I went and filled it up. When I went to exit the gas station I stopped at a stop sign. When I stopped the engine died. It restarted right away. Within the next 30 minutes it died twice more at a stop sign. It died twice since then. The next day it was idling in my driveway and died again. Then it died again when I was backing into the garage. It always starts back up after dying. Since then it's been fine. Of course I haven't filled it up again. After reading all the complaints I realize this is a common problem for the 2006 model. I tried filling it up but had problems but that's another complaint.

I called the Dodge dealer to see if there's a recall concerning this problem and they told me there are no recalls. They told me it would cost me $115 just to diagnose the problem.

I previously owned a 2005 Magnum RT and never had any problem with it dying. The only problem I had with it was when I was stopped in a center turn lane a drunk diver ran into me head on. Car was totaled!

Repeated contact with dealer and NTSB, finally an extended manufacturers warranty on the replacement fuel tank due to a discovered faulty fill/vent valve. They replaced the tank (assumption) but not the gas filled vapor canister (I replaced 2x) prior to their work. They would not replace the $30 vapor purge solenoid (I replaced 2x) prior to their work, due to liquid gas saturation. I refuse to touch anything on the car after their warranty announcement, yet the dealer still can not touch anything the computer does not tell them to touch.

Supposedly they have a star certified mechanic that is allowed to use his own judgement and possibly allow an inspection of the related compromised components, but so far refusal to initiate that course of action. They do not care that the car will stall at a light, at 30mph, at freeway fast lane speed, any driving configuration and at any time...there is no particular pattern to this cars ability to strand you in the most hazardous of situations.

The vehicle also will require about 20 revolutions on the starter prior to firing up (about 50% of the time), have replaced the fuel pump, ect ect. This car passes smog with good numbers, but can not be processed on the smog computer with the ever present engine light display, and the fact that after a reset, you have to complete either a set distance of driving, engine run time without any reoccurring trouble codes to enter the smog garage without any existing red flags on their screen. considering no smog, there iss no insurance and no registration now for over a year...a real pickle.

Until somebody dies, the gov will never realize that Chrysler does not give a hoot about air quality, auto safety, tarnished ability to resolve an epidemic problem with the Magnum/ 300/ Chargers as a manufacturer. Where is cure?
