When I fill my car with gas my engine will repeatedly stall anywhere from a minute or less to as long as 5 to 15 minutes upon leaving the station. Its very much like the PE13-016 investigation. In fact I've brought my car to the dealer and they have confirmed that my the gas tank is faulty. I did my research and uncovered your investigation and thought everything would be ok but it wasn't. even though my car is a 2006 Dodge Magnum 5.7L V8 with a 19 gallon fuel tank both the dealer (larry miller Dodge boise) and the Chrysler customer assistance center are adamant that my gas tank does not have the extended lifetime warranty described in PE13-016. They insist my car does not have the faulty tank that was the subject of your investigation. I don't claim to understand how stalling in traffic is not considered a safety issue and worthy of a recall but all other things equal, how come my car does not qualify for the extended lifetime warranty when even my dealer is saying my car has the exact same symptoms, its the right model year and the right configuration. This is not a trivial thing. Would you want to see your spouse and children randomly stalled out in traffic. And like me, I have found several other reports from fellow Chrysler LX series owners (Magnum, charger & 300C) reporting that no, the car will not always start right back up. Very often we have to wrestle with it and suffer through multiple stalls and difficult starts before the problem clears itself. Please help.
The car runs erratically or stalls after filling the gas tank all the way up. This only lasts for a few miles and then the car runs fine. I was told that this was a known issue and there was a tsb issued, but no recall. If I stop filling a few gallons before the tank is full, there are no problems. I was recently told that Chrysler was extending the warranties on these tanks (PE13016), but was told by my dealer that the extended warranty does not apply to my car, but couldn't tell me why.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that while merging into traffic at 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. Additionally, the vehicle would sporadically stall when the fuel tank was filled to capacity. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed, which located the failure at the computer central system. The computer was replaced however the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer advised the contact that NHTSA action number PE13016 (fuel system, gasoline) was not honored under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 102,000.
On multiple ocassions, during the re-fueling operation up to full level, the vehicle will stall out. No trouble codes are stored. After restart, and while driving away the vehicle may unexpectedly stall-out on one or more ocassions while stopped in gear, or at slow speed or while accelerating from a stop after the refueling has taken place. When the car stalls out while driving, the vehicles behind you do not know that there is a problem with the vehicle and near accidents have occurred. Additionally, if accelerating from a stop, cross traffic also does not know that there was a problem with your car, and near accidents have again almost occurred becuase you have not cleared out of the intersection at the rate/timing that the other driver would have reasonably expected. These unexpected stalls may occur until such time that the car has burned off some fuel by either time or by higher speeds, but even at higher speeds you can still have some hesitation and "surging". situation occurs after re-fueling up to full level only, and without regard to fuel octane level, whether cold or hot outside temperature or engine condition.
While waiting at a traffic stop the vehicle stalled. Cranked it twice and got it started. On the next light it stalled again when slowing. The gas was at 3/4 full. Next time, my wife and kids were on the freeway when the car stalled when slowing to stop at an exit. Deemed unsafe but realized the it happened after gas was filled or closer to full. Happened a couple more times with the last being on 3/5/14.

After fill up, my Magnum begins to jerk and stalled in the intersection. The car was unable to start for 3 min.. after starting and stopping for 15 min it began to operate normal.I notice this only happens during fill ups.
I had just picked up the car in question after purchasing at a used car lot then drove it about 20 miles before I stopped for fuel at which time I filled the tank then as I went to pull out into the lane of traffic and began to pick up speed and at about 30 mph the car began stuttering then it died. Luckily it started up before the cars coming hit me. I have since filed it up several times before and realized that it was doing the same thing after each time I filled up, I then began doing some searching on the internet and seen that others were having the same issues so that led me to file this complaint. Can someone please look into this before someone gets seriously hurt?
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled recurringly. The low engine oil warning light would illuminate when the failure occurred however, there was adequate oil in the vehicle. A local mechanic performed a diagnostic but was unable to generate a failure code. The mechanic advised the contact that the failure could have been caused by a fuel system failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 96,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.
My Dodge Magnum for the last year " total of 4 times" has stalled only after refueling along with the steering wheel locking. There is no warning !. no engine light.! the car just shuts down. But this last time it almost caused a accident. Too close to a disaster. I had my child in the car. I have read the complaints on this site. And I know I am not the only one this happens to. Why is this not being addressed !!! I have never had this happen to me with any other car I have owned. I baby my car with servicing. I have 134,282 miles. I haven't had a issue with the car ever. Until now. I believe it's a faulty part. This is a life threatening issue. As well as the psychical stress not knowing when my car fails me. Why is this not a recall with the Dodge Magnum fuel system" which causes a vapor lock without warning. Does someone have to loose a life to get this addressed "
After fill up and not topping off tank car will sputter or even die and have to be restarted several times for the first 10 or so mile. My car has died several times in busy traffic almost causing a rear end collision from cars behind me.

Normal fill up at costco 91 octane - started to drive away the Magnum srt8 stalled and the vehicle behind me leaving the parking lot hit me. Could not get it to run correctly for about 30 minutes. My wife and baby in the car very worried.
Low fuel light came on, stopped at a gas station to fill up. I filled the tank full up to when the gas-refill-nozzle clicked off, and then a little more - up to the next whole dollar. Recapped my tank, and began to drive away. The engine bucked a bit then stalled. Was a bit harder than normal to get it restarted. Then slowed for the first traffic signal and it suddenly died in busy traffic! hard to get it restarted. Pulled away from the stop light and it bucked and stuttered some more and then cleared up in a couple miles. This has happened about 3 times since this behavior started. Two times for sure the car was running during the refill. I will pay attention in the future to see if it only happens during refill with it still running.
I had just filled up my gas tank and upon leaving the gas station and reaching the first stop light (~100 yards from the gas station) my car stalled. I was able to restart the car following a couple of tries. This was the only time this has happened to me in this car.
I started having problems with my 2006 Magnum srt8 this past winter. With absolutely no warning while driving approximately 10 mph in drive, the engine cutoff and lost all power completely. I also lost all power steering and power brakes. Thank goodness I was on a back road. All of the warning lights flashed on and off and then the check engine light came on. I had to put the car back in park, completely turn off the ignition and restart the car. It restarted without any problems. I drove a few more miles and the exact same thing happened. Again, lucky I was on a back road!! I made it home and it stalled a 3rd time just as I pulled it into the garage. Again, completely random while driving!!!! I took it to my local dealership who could not re-create the problem. I paid for the 60,000 mile service and did not have issues again until this past weekend when the same issue occurred 5 times in 2 days. Again, completely random while driving!!. dangerous. These particular times occurred after filling the gas tank. I have read multiple similar complaints. Something needs to be done before someone gets killed on the road. I will be taking my car into the dealership once again for diagnostics. I am an anesthesiologist and it doesn't take to one to realize that this is a serious safety issue that needs complete attention and a complete investigation. I love my car but I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Dodge and NHTSA, you cannot ignore this. Please feel free to contact me as I will be contacting you.
After refueling vehicle to a full tank of gas, the vehicle will stall when driving. In some cases multiple times. There is no warning prior to the stall and the timing of the incident seems random - sometimes right away after fill-up, sometimes a few miles down the road. Only occurs at full tank condition but does occur every time the tank is filled. When the vehicle stalls it is difficult to start back up - power steering and power brakes are lost during this time. Once the vehicle has traveled 10-15 miles the problem seems to go away - until filling the gas tank again. It seems like an emissions systems type of problem - maybe part of the fuel tank venting system. There are other reports of this problem with similar type of vehicles (Chrysler 300, Dodge charger) on the internet.
V8 engine repeatedly and unpredictably stalls and loses power during driving and turning situations. Recovers after 1-2 seconds in some instances, stalls completely and is difficult to restart in others. Produces extremely hazardous and dangerous situations in traffic and at intersections. Local Dodge dealer (hall Dodge) has had car for six weeks+ and has failed to correctly diagnose & repair. This appears to be a common very dangerous problem involves fuel tank valve, as it is more prevalent (see many online posts of identical symptoms since 2005 and before) after full fuel fill and persists until unrestricted fuel appears to have been used to sufficient degree. Dealer has replaced unlikely items such as sunroof module and the ABS module in futile and inept attempts to skirt the real issue. Someone is going to die in one of these cars when it stalls --Chrysler Dodge is 100% knowledgeable of this defect in many of their cars, and will not acknowledge or make any attempt to correct it. I was driving when the vehicle failed to accelerate over 55 mph (sometimes it would not go over 35 mph). The failure resolved temporarily when the vehicle was restarted. When this does occur the electronic throttle position and traction control light both come on and the car revs up loudly until it is shut off. It is dangerous when you are going 65-70 mph on the highway and the car drops down to 35 mph. Now that the weather is colder it happens more often including as soon as you start the car. There also is a lot of shaking while on the highway or while braking. I took the car to a Dodge dealer and they said the suspension is extremely loose, which again is dangerous because the wheel could just fall off. I also have the problem that I cannot get the gear out of park at any point. I did find the recall and called Chrysler, but they say my VIN is not part of the recall (why not? it is the same problem). They notated it, but have not done anything to help me. I have to keep my car in neutral and put the emergency brake on anytime I park. There have been several occasions I cannot park in spots because even with the brake on the car still rolls. I have read several other complaints on here and see these are all common problems and may all have recalls and I feel my car should be included in those.
