Vehicle began to just shut off when not in motion. Took the car to auto shop to be repaired. After spending more money than expected to fix what the mechanic thought was the problem, we still were having the same issue. Finally, wte received a recall notice on the gas tank. After waiting months for Chrysler to send the dealership a gas tank for our car, we finally brought the vehicle in to be repaired. Changed out the gas tank, dealership kept the car a few days to test it out, called us to pick up the car. On the way home, the vehicle kept killing. Took it back to the dealership and they they kept the car for almost two months trying to figure out the problem, but they were unsuccessful in diagnosing the problem. As of today the car is still shumtting off and nobody can figure out the problem. The car only has 45000 miles.

I have been having some problems with my 2006 Dodge Magnum rt for the past year: 1. car stall at a stop light or stop sign (engine would start again) 2. car will lose power (hesitate for about 2-3 seconds and it would chime) 3. engine died on the freeway and had to pull over (very dangerous) Dodge replace the gas tank 2 times and still not repaired. The Dodge dealer in elk grove ca charged me $140 and I according to the recall it should be waived. There are a lot of people having the same issues and someone should look into this because it is very dangerous.

2 issues: 1) the car stalls (engine cuts off) sporadically. It restarts without hesitation but the stalls are during transit which is very dangerous in traffic. I see a lot of instances where this complaint has been reported but I don't see any recalls on this issue. 2) when someone is sitting on the front passenger seat with the seat belt buckled, the seatbelt warning light and chiming continuously blink and sounds. Also, all the emergency lights on the dashboard blinks simultaneously periodically. Not sure if that is related but I don't see any recalls concerning this. I will be reporting these to the media for assistance in getting these issues addressed with my vehicle.

After refueling my 2006 Dodge Magnum stalled repeatedly. Restarting the car was very difficult. Most of the stalling episodes occurred when the car was at a standstill or moving at 5 mph or less. It also stumbled badly when driving at approximately 50 mph. One of he stalling episodes left me stranded for a short while in a busy intersection causing a traffic jam and creating a very dangerous situation.

Hi, I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum srt8. During the first incident in April 2014, my car stalled at lights and engine would not restart. I got gasoline after the first stall and it continued after I filled my tank with gas. The second incident just occurred last night 11/4/14 and I went to the gas station to fill the tank. I noticed a sound like air pressure was being released from my gas tank (normal from filling up) and then the car would not restart very easily and stalled. I was able to get the car started but it stalled at every idle at stop lights. I just noticed that though a google search that the fed is probing engine stalls on approx 192K Chrysler/Dodge models with the same issue. articles.latimes.com/2013/may/14/autos/la-fi-hy-Chrysler-engine-stalls-20130514 [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Magnum 8-cyl

  • 66,000 miles
At 66,000 miles this car started to stall during low speed operation, around 30-40 mph. This continued on with multiple attempted, expensive tries by the dealer to fix it, including the unnecessary removal of a remote start system. Part of the fix attempts included installing a doorbell like button that I pushed whenever the event happened in an attempt for them to fault isolate. They replaced the ignition switch because it appeared to them that the system had been shut off. After that it was probably the control computer but no guarantee on that. Computer has not been replaced. June 2014 this car had the gas tank replaced at a part of the non-recall 'extended warranty on the gas tank' fuel tank replacement. The car responded with a increase in horsepower/performance but not better stall performance. After a week or two the stall conditions returned and are more dangerous than ever. The car will stall pulling into traffic, it will stall during open road running (now at virtually any speed), or sitting at a traffic light. When it stalls, if the car has enough momentum it will restart and occasionally bolt forward due to the computer sensing the stall, especially dangerous in parking lots. A further feature is that if the 'check engine' light was on prior to the stall, it will be extinguished and no codes remain in the computer..

The engine stalls randomly after stopping at a stop sign or red light. This will often occur several times in a row. After restarting the car it will not go into gear and be stuck in neutral. The problem will also occur at speed, dying causing a small deceleration and then starting again on its own. This is very dangerous because the driver behind you has no indication that you are stalled and stopping unexpectedly.

After filing the fuel tank, the engine will sputter and stall. When it first began to happen to me, it seemed like I was getting bad gas. Now I know that this occurs primarily after I make a left turn and is due to a part that is inside the fuel tank. The part fails and the result is this problem with the engine stalling. This is a known problem with older Magnums, chargers, and Chrysler 300's. it is dangerous!! this has happened to be on interstate 95 and just when I got into the travel lane the engine died. I think the left turn I made was a few mile before I got to the entrance ramp and it caught me off-guard. I was lucky to be able to pull over and get onto the shoulder. This is a design failure and is not normal wear & tear. All of the older cars mentioned here can be affected. I assume you have received prior complains about this issue. Dodge is no help, but should be required to fix this problem. Thanks.

At low speeds and stops my car will shut off at random times. Sometimes 3-5 times in as short of a drive as 10 miles, mainly at intersections. Worst incident was pulling away from a stop sign making a left hand turn with a car coming the direction I was turning, I lost engine power as well as power-steering. In all instances I shut car off and restarted and was able to pull away, although in some cases it would not initially engage into drive. I first experienced after putting a full tank of gas in although now it does not matter the fuel level. It has been progressively getting more frequent.
