CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.

The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.

Let someone else deal with those headaches.

The front tires have worn out on the outside edges, car pulls to the right, growling noise at low speeds now beginning to show up at higher speeds. Have complained about the problem since 6000 miles on the car, now has 19500, dealer says the alignment has no problems, blames the tires, the tire people (Continental) blame the car. The car is now undriveable without replacing the tires, they are so out of balance and cupped vibration is severe. I was last told by the dealer it is my problem.

Purchased a previously owned 2005 Dodge Magnum from local dealership 45 days ago I experienced very serious pulling to the right. The dealership has indicated it had the vehicle aligned and two (2) new front tires installed before purchase. They have had me (they paid) take it in for three (3) more alignments with the last time the technicians needed to replace bent tie rods before the alignment could even be completed. It continues to have a very serious pull to the right, with no resolution in sight. The alignment shop has indicated it is using the latest Dodge bulletins pertaining to the alignment issue (2 previous version also exist). Feathering of the 'new' front tires is already apparent and I know it will only get worst; whether it is the unnecessary replacement of tires or an incident caused by this excessive uneven wearing of tire tread. The dealership is now non-responsive and has refused to do anything more. They have declared it as 'normal' for this vehicle and it is due to a manufacturer design problem. I have a new born baby that I am scarred to strap her into this death trap. It is the only vehicle that my wife and I own and are afraid to even drive it. It is an accident waiting to happen.

I have a 2005 Magnum SXT, the car has pulled to the right since day one, it has been aligned 2 times now. The 2 front tires are wearing badly on the outside, the driver side is worse than the passenger side. I have requested that Chrysler replace the tires at this time I have not heard an answer on that. I have been told that the wear on the tires is not due to the car pulling to the right that it is a wear problem (I guess the way I drive) I don't agree!! my car has also stalled 3 times while going in reverse. My gauge lights and headlights flash and flicker every time they are turned on the dealer has said they have seen it flicker one time, they must drive with their eyes closed!! sometimes the back window can not be rolled up by the drivers controls.

2005 Dodge Magnum bought new - has always pulled to the right. Dealer has done 5 front end alignments and replaced two tires to no avail. It seems that Chrysler is trying to sweep this not uncommon problem under the rug. Dealer played games with dates on invoices and service records in attempt (in my opinion) to hold off on my being able to take legal action. The car cannot be driven without it veering to the right. It is absolutely essential that such a serious defect be fixed before serious injury or worse occurs.

2005 Dodge Magnum rt bought new has always pulled to the right. Dealer has done 3 front end alignments, tires / wheels replaced, steering box replaced, continues to pull right. You cannot take you had off the wheel without car immediately veering right. Dealer tired to claim it as safety item but this is a lie, since no other new car has done this. A recall is due before lives are lost. Premature tire wear is occuring due to this problem.

I have severe outside shoulder wear on both front tires of my 2005 Dodge Magnum, VIN [xxx], more on the driver's side than the passenger. Chrysler has replaced the tires once, and aligned four times, but the problem still comes back within 600 miles. Without rotating, my tires would only last about 8000 miles. The car also exhibits enough steering wheel "feedback" on road seems to cause loss of control to anyone "new" to driving this car. The Chrysler district representative has driven this car and claims this is normal. I do not agree! he also claims that severe vibration at various highway speeds and braking conditions is normal. In heavy highway traffic, light braking will make it difficult to stay in my proper lane. Once again, I cannot agree with Chrysler. Thank you, [xxx] ps - I retained two of the original tires that were on the car when delivered. These were replaced by tires I purchased from the dealer. My 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T experiences alignment issues with the vehicle pulling to the right. While the manufacturer claims it is "within spec" the dealership does not deny the problem exists. I have visited the dealership twice regarding the issue and will most likely go back a third time. I am aware of a tsb that is out regarding this issue, however I feel dealerships may not have all the information or choose not to perform the necessary work to fix this obviously widespread flaw.

The transmission in my 2005 Dodge Magnum has stuttered, clunked, vibrated, and surged since the 3rd week I had it. It has been in the shop 3 times for a total of 15 days so far for this problem. My dealer called star hotline and were told that there is no flash for this problem, and that I need to drive more aggressively (like I can drive 80 in a 35 mph zone!) or just live with it. The dealer and the manufacturer have told me they cannot help me. It has also been realigned once for pulling to the right, and now it is pulling to the right again. I will be making another appointment with the dealer to have this looked at.

My 2005 Magnum has always pulled to the right even after 4 visits to the dealer. I was told this is a safety thing that it drits to the right, my car pulls to the right. I also hear a clunk noise evertime I start from a stop, this was proven to be normal based on the fact every other Magnum on the lot made this same noise. My brakes also make a bad grinding sound when I stop, this will be going to the dealer shortly for this problem.

My 2005 Dodge Magnum constantly drifts to the right even after the recommended adjustment made by the service bulletin relating to this problem. The car is in service for the third time for the same problem. Dealer's service manager notes that this is a safety feature to prevent head on collisionsl now I've heard everything.
