CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.

The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.

Let someone else deal with those headaches.

- the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum with 3500 miles. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag sensor did not work properly. The contact explained that when someone was sitting in the passengers seat the air bag sensor often indicated that the airbag was off, even though the person that was sitting in the seat met the required weight for the air bag to be on. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not find a problem with the sensor, and told the contact that it was working as designed. The current and failure mileage were 3500. Updated 03/06/07.

Repeated failures of the wiring harness related to the interior tempature controls, the wiring continues to melt within 5 miles of each repair. The vehicle is now waiting for the fourth service appointment to again attempt to repair or replace this wiring harness, I am fearful of having a fire start in the interior of this vehicle. I have also been seeing "airbag failure" warning lights, I do not know if these items are related, I do not know if this can cause unexpected deployment of the airbag system. The vehicle also has harsh and or premature shifting while driving.
