CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.

The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.

Let someone else deal with those headaches.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact received a recall notice for the driver side air bag and fuel pump. The contact took the vehicle to be repaired at lakeshore Chrysler (330 E howze beach rd, in slidell, la). After the repair, the contact was informed by the technician that a code was found for the weight sensor circuit on the front passenger seat, which failed and needed to be replaced. Until the sensor was replaced, both the driver and passenger side air bags could deactivate and would have to be repaired at the contact's expense. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The NHTSA campaign numbers were unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 200,092.
