CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.
The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.
Let someone else deal with those headaches.

'05 Magnum R/T. 153,000 miles. I had to drive into Chicago 30min ride. I was low on fuel and wasn't near a gas station. I got stuck at a train crossing on the south side.. I was able to pull to the right and turn the car off to wait for the train to pass. (About 5/7mins). I tried to start the car but it just cranked. After 10mins it finally started and it sounded terrible. Clicking and clanking. Smoke POURING from the tailpipes. I shut it off and towed it home. I pulled #6 plugs to find them smashed. Insert a long flathead screwdriver down the spark plug hole and it can easily get wedged in the top of the piston. So there's the issue. After net research I found the 5.7 Hemi "Valve" issues.. I only had had car for a year and a half. I went against my better judgement and bought a Chrysler product. I was born in the 70's so I lived through Chryslers '80s & '90s crappy vehicles. I was hoping the 2000s were better. I was wrong. If your looking to buy any Chrysler post '70s.. have a friend hit you in the head with a hammer first. It will be less painful.
