After filling up the tank with regular 87 octane and traveling less than a mile the vehicle stalled. I would restart the vehicle and it would stall again several times until about 10-15 miles it would subside. I realized after several fill ups there must be a correlation so I took my 2005 V8 Magnum into the dealership. The dealership stated that it would cost between 1,500 to 2 grand to evaluate and fix the problem which they thought had to do with the fuel tank. Since I could not afford the repair cost the only remedy was to stop short of filling up the tank. No stalls occurred if I would fill up the tank 3/4. this went on for several years until one day I was distracted and filled the tank up 100%. it did not stall at low speeds but when I got on the highway stalled at 55 leaving me in an unsafe situation (not having control of the steering wheel). Fortunately I was strong enough to manipulate the steering wheel to the side of the highway. I was fearful to begin again at high speeds so I placed my flashers on and traveled several miles at 35 mph with several stalls to follow. Now it is may of 2014 and the dealership has no warranty or recall noticed on this vehicle.
Drove vehicle for about 30 minutes at 70F ambient. Turned off vehicle and was away from it for about 10 minutes. Restarted engine and it had little if any compression and made a bad metal banging sound when started. Engine destroyed. Dealership analysis revealed #3 intake valve seat fell out of head and destroyed #3 piston and cylinder requiring a new engine. Vehicle has 91,000 miles.
My Dodge Magnum R/T, 2005, periodically stalls for the first several miles after a fill-up. This was sporatic at first, but now happens with nearly every fill-up. Normally it will be a momentary event while under power, but if I am stopped and idling the engine will die. It will typically restart right away.
If I fill my tank and I drive it away from the pump, it will stutter, hesitate, jerk, then die. I lose all power steering, brakes, engine. Afterwards, it won't immediately restart. It will start again after a few minutes. It won't start driving good again until I run the gas level down a little. After I fill, it will run ok until I make a turn or come to a stop, something that will slosh the fuel in the tank again then it will act like it is starved for fuel. This happens everytime I fill my tank. If I don't fill it completely then it will do it. It never did this when I first bought my car. One time after I this happened, I opened the gas cap and it was hissing and spitting gas just sitting there. This is a very dangerous situation as if this happened on the highway I could become involved in a collision. It has happened at least a half dozen time and have since not filled my tank up until today and it happened again.

After filling my gas tank without topping off, my car stalls within the first 300 feet of the gas station and is then hard to start. Once it's restarted, for the next 40-60 miles of driving, my car hesitates and will often stall at any low speeds or stops unless I drop it into neutral and rev it up. 60-100 miles after a full tank, the car will buck when coming out of a turn and then stall if I let off the gas.
Running low on gas on January 15th I stopped at a gas station to refuel. I purchased 91 octane, placed the nozzle in the gas tank tube and began to refuel. Once the pump clicked I replaced the gas nozzle, tightened the gas cap, started the car and drove off. Less than two minutes later as I was approaching a stop light the engine shuts off and the oil light comes on. I quickly placed the gear in park, and attempted to restart the engine. After trying three times it finally turns over and I am able to drive off. One minute later it shuts off again as I am beginning to make a right turn into a driveway. Same scenario as before. Now every time I fill the tank to the point where the gas nozzle clicks the engine will shut off multiple times within the first 10 miles of driving.
Just bought the car, filled up the fuel tank at gas station and went for a drive. At the first stop light I came to the car stalled while slowing down to stop coasted to a stop and restarted the engine after a few attempts, resumed driving and it was driving ok got onto the on-ramp to drive on the highway and it stalled again while merging into traffic same problem occurred several times until the fuel level went down after driving.
Bought a used 2005 Dodge Magnum 5.7L rt in 2011. I've had multiple stalling issues with the vehicle. Likes to stall right after filling up the gas tank. Also stalls with gas tank at nearly empty. Can sometimes stall when making right/left turns or U-turns at intersections. I've learned to only fill up to half a tank, but issues still occur. The vehicle always stalls when going up a ramp in a multiple story parking garage. When going up the ramp, just as the car begins to get level with the floor at the top of the ramp, the vehicle stalls just about every time. Seems like a gas tank fuel problem. I understand that a safety feature built into the vehicle turns the engine off in the event of fuel detection in an area of the gas tank where no gas should be. Most likely in case of an accident leading to roll over of the vehicle. This appears to be malfunctioning. Possible flaw in the design. Chrysler/Dodge needs to address this immediately before someone gets killed because their vehicle stalled while making a simple U-turn or while driving high speeds on a highway. Public safety should supersede any cost concerns the company may have to pay to fix this problem.
The engine on the 2005 Dodge Magnum 3.5L has a problem that could result in a serious injury or worse. In this case and citing a tsb from Dodge that there is an issue with the rocker arms, valves, and egr valve that allows this engine to make a lot of noise. I contacted Dodge directly and they are unwilling to help out. I think someone from your dept should look into this problem it does not only affect the Magnum but any Dodge vehicle with this motor.
Went out to start the car on 11/7/13 and could not get the shift out of park. Called the Dodge dealer and he knew exactly what was wrong. Called a tow truck and the owner said that he also knew what was wrong and that his small towing service had towed hundreds of Chrysler / Dodge cars with the same exact problem. I checked on the internet and found hundreds of complaints similar to my problem - cannot get out of park. I also called Chrysler customer service and was told that they knew of the problem, but that my particular vehicle was not covered - only certain VIN's are covered. If there are 100's of cars just in my small location, there must be 1000's, if not tens of thousands affected vehicles nation wide. I will also mention that the manual override for the shifter did not work, so my car had to be dragged onto the tow truck. I feel that this is not only a costly problem for car owners, but a safety issue as well. What if you put the car in park while you were in the middle of traffic and then could not move? I could list other situations as well - all safety issues. I would ask that a total recall of all vehicles effected be issued. Thanks.
After filling up at a gas station, I drove the car approximately 1/2 mile and the car stopped at a traffic light. This has happened to me probably a dozen times since March of this year. It does not happen after every fill up, probably every 4 times it happens.
Without warning, the car shuts down. This first occurred at a red light. The car just shut off unexpectedly and I was able to turn the key and restart it without problems. The engine shuts off while at a stop, while driving at lower speeds, while driving at high speeds, in town driving, highway driving, when it's hot outside, when it's cool outside, when idling. There are no dashboard lights (engine, oil, etc). There are no sounds, no shuddering, no kicking. My only indication that the car has suddenly turned off is that the tach needle goes immediately to zero. I have been able to use the momentum of the vehicle to pull off the road at which time I turn the key to off, wait a moment, and turn it back on. It restarts without problems. If I try to restart too quickly, there seems to be a hesitation in starting. We have attempted to repair many parts on the vehicle but it has not cured the problem.
Engine failure due to design flaw allowing oil and coolant to leak into cylinder, blowing the engine. Had a total engine rebuild, costing $4000. Happened 5 months later, needed valve springs and head done again, another $1000. Engine light never goes out, no inspection sticker, number 1 cylinder has eaten 2 catalytic converters, and always putting oil in. No long distances, just local driving.
Moving at very slow speed, engine stalls. Come to stop - put in park and then restart. Restarts on first try, however, there is a notable 'sound' upon ignition - almost sounds like a 'pop' or 'release'. this has occurred approx ten times over the past few months. Nothing is so consistent with each situation that can conclusively say what/if the cause is. Luckily has not occurred yet on highway, etc.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the engine stalled with the illumination of the light bulb warning icon. The failure recurred forty times over several years. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who reprogrammed the computer system however, the failure recurred and would mostly recur after the contact refueled the vehicle. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
After fueling up the vehicle to a full tank the car seems to want to stall when coming to a stop. This happened on three separate occasions within a span of 3 stop lights and when you go to restart the car it doesn't want to start right away leaving you vulnerable at a stop light just sitting there.
Car stalled (loss of power) after having refueled (to full). Occurred multiple times until we determined that fueling to 3/4 full resulted in no stalling. Stalling occurred within 1/4 mile of driving away from fueling location - often in traffic!
